    Underrated Actors

Was having a chat last night about a movie with Robin Williams and I never really thought about it before but he has done some great movies, he also has been in some real stinkers.
He has played a very broad range of parts and can pull a lot of them off.
Some of the movies i liked him in..........
    Moscow on the Hudson
    Good Morning, Vietnam
    Dead Poets Society
    The Fisher King
    Mrs. Doubtfire
    The Birdcage
    One Hour Photo
    Insomnia

I'm not saying he is the worlds greatest actor but i think he deserves more credit for the work he has done.

Anyone got any actors that should get a little more recognition???

To actors that pop to mind are Forest Whitaker and Edward Norton. Thought Brad Pitt was good before - excellent acting in movies like "12 Monkeys" and "Fight Club" Don't think much of his later movies, though.

I think Edward Norton has been recognized as the best actor of his generation and I do agree with that statement.

If you remember the movie The Heist, they advertised it as the three greatest movie actors of their generation. Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro and Edward Norton.

An under rated actor by the public but accepted by his peers as one of the greatest, was the late J.T. Walsh.

He's a real pro. Does a fine job no matter what the role.

One of my favorites is John Cusak. He's quite versatile and one of the best when it comes to ironic comedy.

Equilibrium beat the pants off the Matrix as far as I'm concerned. Just f'ing brilliant acting and action.

I hated the Batman franchise until seeing CB give life to the Caped Crusader. Now I can't wait for the next one.

Seen The Machinist? How many actors would actually lose so much weight to play the part perfecty?

You're right, great one and superb job of acting. I think it's currently playing on one of the TrueVisions movie channels.

A rotten movie, they cheated the audience with the ending, though CB was good.

^ why would you think that ? the end was a bit disappointing and not as dramatic as you would expect it to be, but cheated ?

Because they used a dishonest way to explain how THE trick was done. ie Tesla's machine making doubles. I felt absolutely cheated. It was a cheap trick to what I thought was developing into a good movie.

I disagree, this is what made that movie great, the needs to go to extreme to impress an audience. The machine was diabolic, and for all we know, he killed himself over and over, as the "double" is being transported, while the "original" is killed, drowned. There is absolutely no trick, it's simply dark magic and an individual personal drama.

Nope, CBs character kept his double. That was explained in the movie. Hugh Jackman's character only used the machine once, and not in the show and killed his double. Complete bollux.

^ ha, I think you got it wrong, and missed the end. Bootleg copy ? at the end, you can see dozens of water cage, burning in the theater, and in each cage, you can see his double.

So he didn't do it once, but over and over. That was the "dramatic" part of the movie, killing yourself over and over for a show.

You need to see it again,

Although you couldn't really class her as underrated Hilary Swank is an amazing actress, million dollar baby is one of the best performances I have seen.

    Joe Dallesandro was underrated.

    I am sure Butterfly agrees.

Udo Kier is underrated as well.

For me it was a chilling ending showing just how far one magician would go in order to 'one up' the other.

The premise was clear when HJ's character saw the hats all lying around outside. Consider also the novelty of the time that very few people actually would have understood what the machine really did.
