It's called My Teksi in Malaysia, I've used it a few times now,to put 2 fingers up to the local taxi mafia.

Anyway how it works here is, you download the app to your phone, then they give you 15 ringgit off your first 3 rides, when you enter FIRST into the promotion box. I guess you could change sims and keep gettin free rides, think I will try that soon

Anyway, youtell or show the app where you are and want to go and it will find you a driver, show you his photo and Registration plate and the cab's normally at my door within 5 minutes.

You can even send your ride to a friend/relative, where they can see where your taxi is and track you.


Should be great for those off the beaten track in Bangkok.

Is it proper taxis or freelancers?

Similar systems causing a big stink in Oz as anyone with a nice car can join as a driver.

These are proper licensed taxis.

The one you are talking about is Uber, who have caused a storm in the UK and are banned now in Korea I believe

At my destination now, a swanky little restaurant cost me 30baht, as you can see on there, you can even call the driver

I've used it twice. Very efficient both times. No pikey drivers.
