Here's a selection of lyrics from this year's entrants:

    Germany: (That once proud nation)
    Artist: Roger Cicero
    Title: Frauen Regier'n Die Welt

"When I found out she wanted to save the environment
I sewed "No thanks" on my parka."

Israel: (I'm not making this one up)

    Artist: Teapacks
    Title: Push The Button

The world is full of terror
    If someone makes an error
He's gonna blow us up to biddy biddy kingdom come
And I don't want to die
I want to see the flowers bloom
Don't wanna go capoot ka boom.

    Iceland (not too bad....considering)

    Artist: Eirikur Hauksson
    Title: Valentine Lost

    Passion killed by acid rain.
    A rollercoaster in my brain.
    But, how would you know!

Britain (I sincerely hope that not one penny of the tax I pay has contributed to this in any way whatsoever.)

    Artist: Scooch
    Title: Flying The Flag

    Ba-ba-da, Ba-ba-da,
    Ba-da-da-ba, ba-da
    Duty free madam?
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Now then, I have nothing against this group because the girl members have very large breasts.
You can enjoy them with the volume turned down!

What really disturbs me is the choise of name. I wondered where I had heard the phrase "Scooch" before.
It turns out that the action of dogs scraping excess shit of their arseholes by means of dragging themselves along the grass is also called scooch

Some photos from the show.....Then I'll tell you the winner:

    i) Say what you want about Communism, but they wouldn't have allowed this....

Verka Serduchka, a drag queen from Ukraine, was the overwhelming pre-show favourite with bookmakers.

ii) A pretty lady in a nice dress

There were 24 acts in total throughout the show, and Maria Sestic of Bosnia-Herzegovina was the first to perform.

    i) I like this one because of fatty....The group's manager must be forever saying, "For God's sake Jose, stop eating donuts!"

Spanish group D'Nash were representing one of the four founding countries of Eurovision, which began in 1956.

ii) A scary lady in a nice dress.

Fans in the host country hoped Finnish singer Hanna Pakarainen, who sang Leave Me Alone, would be victorious.

From the sceptred isle that gave the world Chaucer, Shakespeare, Dickens, and Wordsworth....I give you scooch.

Scooch "flew the flag" for the UK, in the words of their song, but ended up in joint second-last with just 19 points.

These people live on the same piece of continental crust as me - and it's an island - I'm scared.

Many fans went to great lengths to prepare for the show, being held in Finland's biggest ice hockey stadium.

It really is the most ridiculous show. But it has a certain charm as long as one doesn't have to watch a single minute of it. Morrissey was down as a potential entrant for the UK this year - Now that I would have watched.

^I think the UK needs to revise it's Eurovision policy, we don't seem to know the right level of song to go with....we have gone with cheesy crap for many years, whereas utter turd, transvestites and ugly women seem to be the order of the day.

Morrissey singing "there is a light (that never goes out)" in drag is a sure fire winner next year
