Duck Dynasty - do you like it, love it or hate it?

Season 4 of Duck Dynasty just started and I had not watched one episode. That was until a TD friend (English) told me it was great. SO I started watching Season 1 and I think I am getting hooked. 20 million viewers.....can't be a bomb of show, now can it?

I wont get into details and spoil it for you, other than to say it is about some red necks that started a duck call and hunting supply business that became millionaires. They do not seem to have forgotten where they came from and family seems to be of the utmost importance to all of them. I would say it could be good acting, but a close friend of mine met the CEO and some of the family when he was in Monroe LA and said they were 100% genuine and invited him and his wife to join them for lunch.

I will give it a go. I have just downloaded series three of Game of Thrones so waiting for the missus to be out for the day and have a session. That is about the last thing that got me hooked. i'm nearly finished the complete Minder series so that will be nice to look forward to as well. They don't make them like that anymore sadly.

Never heard of it but according to IMBD "Duck Dynasty is an American reality television series on A&E." I'm going to guess that in this context A & E doesn't mean Accident and Emergency but everything else in that sentence screams out 'DO NOT WATCH THIS'.

Will give it a shot in a bit. Am watching "The Longest Day" (again). What a collection of stars in that movie!

Not 'spoofy' by any stretch of the imagination. Shows what good old-fashioned entrepreneurship can accomplish.

But, there are those who will consider the show 'low-brow' simply because they consider themselves 'better than a bunch of rednecks'.

Pretty much shoving Red Neck Christian dogma down your throats while you sit there thinking its all about a bunch of good-ol-boys doing shit stupid crap to make big bucks from a mentally ill American sub-culture it normally vilifies.

Reality Television with a specific message no different than MSNBC or FOX News. The business side of this program has increased by 2,500% according to the Grand Dragon Head of the Company with Yuppies and wanna be Rednecks buying duck calls to place on their office desks and home displays.

Its catchy at first, but really folks, look a little deeper at the message its broadcasting....Baptist fundamentalism at its best.

Well, I just watched the first two episodes. If you're not an American, it will reenforce all of your negative preconceptions. If you like shows like Pawn Stars, you might like this. I went to college in redneck Northern Florida, and knew a lot of guys like these ole boys. I don't hunt, but used to do a lot of fishing and spent loads of time in the woods as a kid. There are some funny parts, but it's the type of show I would generally only watch if I had nohing else and was really bored. 5/10.

They just churn this shit out over and over. No one on the productions seem to make any effort. The shows just make themselves. Does any one actually write them?
