How far have you got mate? Have you plugged it in to the computer, opened the phones hard drive up on the computer, then opened the file manager on the phone (on the computer) and then dragged and dropped files in to the folders?

If you go to my files then settings should bring up a menu and have options such as,set image directory, set video directory, set music directory, etc.

use that app on your mac to make it lika a pwoper compoota

The new Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) enables you to manage content on any portable device with storage.

Android File Transfer is an application for Macintosh computers (running Mac OS X 10.5 or later) you can use to view and transfer files between your Mac and an Android device (running Android 3.0 or later).
    Use Android File Transfer

Use the USB cable that came with your Android device to connect it to your Mac.
Double-click Android File Transfer to open it the first time (subsequently, it opens automatically).
Browse the files and folders on your Android device, add folders, copy files up to 4GB to or from your Mac, delete files, and more.
Choose Help > Android File Transfer Help to learn more.
Note: If you are looking for Android file transfer software for Windows, you actually don't need extra software to connect your Android device to a Windows computer

in anticipation for getting my new tablet thats
if Asus or Pipo ever get around to exporting any here to uk .

I think Dillinger is right and you need to download prog he suggests-
    Android file transfer.

Thanks all for the above help ,, BUT yes I have Kies on my Mac I also have Android file transfer and NEITHER of them will still allow my Mac to recognise the Galaxy.

Thats why I have bluetoothed my files over ,,, the problem being you cannot seem to be able to choose the file destination ,, other than the tablet .

Ok lets try another angle .

Does anyone know how to transfer the files WITHIN the tablet ?

At least if I could do this I could load up my memory card instead of sapping up the ever declining tabs memory.

whatever you do, don't install Kies, it will fuck up everything, like iTunes does on a PC

you can't store apps on the external sdcard for the majority of Samsung devices with Android 4.1.x, despite what some idiots here was claiming some time ago, it's not possible. It's a manufacturing restriction for copyright reasons. Some Android devices do allow external storage of their apps, but not Samsung.

There are turnarounds though, but you must "root" your Tablet or phone. I found one app that would "substitute" a directory on the "extSdcard" for a direct storage on the Samsung device (sdcard0). Apps like Link2SD or Move2SD will not work, even if the device is rooted, because the extSdcard is a Fuse filesystem and will not link with an "Android" filesystem.

This is a pain in the ass, and Samsung is trying to pull a "Steve Job" on their devices, fucking idiots.

you can only transfer files (move) from within the ExtSDcard using the "MyFiles" app. You can force apps to store by default your pics, music and download into your ExtSDcard, but that won't be much.

There are a number of good apps that will let you browser and share all your files within your ExtSDCard with WiFi, using a simple network connection. Try ES Explorer, which is a must for any Android device. This will let you store directly on the Cloud, FTP, or a MacShare or a WinShare and exchange files with your PC.

Again this assumes you have minimum knowledge on how to operate a PC or a network PC and have some understanding of network share.

If you don't, buy a fucking iPad and use iTunes. Android devices are for real players, not tech challenged women.

use the my files app on your tab - select all files - sdcard0 and bluetooth

tick the check box beside the files - can select more than one at once

hit the icon at the top right with 3 lines - and select move

choose extsdcard and then the folder you want to put them

    and choose move here
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Firstly let me apologise to you lads who have replied during your working day ,, I am not ignoring your help , you know I drive a truck all day and with the time lapse in the UK I can only look / reply when I get home after work .

However there is some good news as I took my pad to work with me today , before we get to that lets have a look here first .

Oh gawd I am a technically challenged woman , but I am not about to go out and buy an iPad after shelling out £340 for this bit of kit .

So , I have faffed around with it today in my break time and for any other tech challenged women reading this all you have to do is open your files app , click on your memory , click ext memory locate the files you want to move , highlight them and simply drag them into the extsd card button.

Its a shame I cant transfer via the usb from the Mac but Bluetoothing it over isn't the end of the world .

Thanks kindly to Baldy ( green sent ) if I was at school and had a choice of you or Butterfluff as teachers I would choose you every time , I,d bring you in a cake to eat in the staff room .

That Butterfluff reminds me of a teacher I had back in the good old days , he used to rant and scream at me and whack me on the arse with a plimsole

don't give him the solution, women don't like that, they prefer to fuck up everything first and then claim they got it

people of your generation should stay away from computers and be happy to be able to operate a remote control for their TV.

Dumb people shouldn't be allowed to use the internet, they spread virus and are a general nuisance for corporation tech support which force them to raise their prices for everybody else.

Buy a fucking iPad FFS, that's what Apple is for, dumb devices for dumb users. There is no shame in being an Apple user.
