    Your TV is too small

I was looking at upgrading from a 42 inch LCD to a 55 because I saw one in the shop and it looked so big when I was standing in front of it. I thought a bit more about it when I got home. I sit about 3m from my TV and realised that it will look cool for the 1st 5 minutes but it is only a tiny bit bigger really when you are sat that far away.

So I ended up getting an HD projector for the same money. Arrived today. Puts a pin sharp picture on a white wall that is 4 times bigger than the biggest $14,000 TV in the shop.

The great thing about HD projectors is that you can actually see the pixels if you are about 2m away which means 3m away (typical seating distance) is just beyond pixel peeping distance and the perfect distance to take advantage of HD 1920x1080 resolution.

Which brings me to my other criticism of your TV. You have an HD TV and you don't need one. You would have to sit less than a metre away before you make out the pixels so if you are more than 2 metres away then a 6 year old 1024x600 screen will look just as good!

But the coolest thing of all about projectors is that when you have a cigarette it is like going back to the cinema in the 70s and 80s - you can see the smoke weaving and swirling in the light beam... cool!!!

I bought a projector about 12 years ago. The setup I had gave me a 100 inch picture.

To try to have that on a TV at that time would have cost a fortune.

The only problems with using a projector is that of ambient light in the room and replacement costs for the bulbs.

I just bought a 40" Samsung for 12,500 baht. I went looking for a 32" but the local Power Buy had a crazy deal on a model that's 5 minutes out of date.

Every TV is Korean as Samsung make pretty much all the LED panels for everyone.

    * Disclaimer - could be bollocks, but this is TD.

My Sony isn't Korean, and neither is the screen... But, it is too small and I can't do cool stuff with smoke.

Samsung are about to have their bubble burst; 2014 will be a disaster year for them!

I had a projector 30 years ago and used to watch Laurel and Hardy shorts on it, I believe it cost about £5 from some ad in some mag...

My brother has a 60 inch TV in his house,he has a big house but a TV that size is just too fucking big.

I've got an ES8000 'smart TV'- what a stupid buy that was- the picture is gorgeous, but I rarely (if ever) use any of the 'smart' features as they're a PITA- my next TV will have the best possible screen, but I won't be paying for the peripheral crap.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Jesus Marmite, that size TV these days is as gay as Socals cock.

Minimum size is a 50 inch at the very least, there piss cheap at around 20K and dropping every week.

As far as being too big for the room goes, that's bolliks, the bigger the better innit.

I gave my TV away after it dawned on me that I hadn't turned it on for about 2 months.

My ideal tvee would cover the whole wall, 4 meters x 2.5 meters would be perfect.

I think you will find that it doesn't matter how big you TV is when it is switched off. More important is how big is it when it is switched on.

    1. You cannot get a 50" TV for 20k

    2. Its only for the kids to watch cartoons on and 40" in our living room is more than enough. It's certainly a step up from the 21" CRT telly that it's replacing.

The main problem with a big telly is the shitty broadcast quality gets shown up to be even shittier than one first thought. The second problem is that I now need to spend more than 700B on a DVD player as cheapo Chinky ones don't have HD ports.
