    Truevisions problem with rain.

Ok, have true satellite connected at the bungalow.
Every time it rains, every time, the sports extra channel goes on the blink with ER 16 check the socket, no signal...
Can switch to channel 1 and no problem, switch back to 117 and no signal.
Wait long enough and it may intermittently come and go.
Anyone have similar, or any ideas?

Its typical of the set up here. Old dish, different receiver, new decoder box, they just dont work right in heavy rain. Never a problem at my moms house in Louisiana, but it has always been a problem here with heavy rain. Not much can be done. Pity

If heavy rain all the channels will go off. When rain is not super heavy, my higher channels go off but lower ones are ok. Simple fact of life with True Vision. Frequencies they use are subject to rain interference.

It sounds like you may have an alignment of dish problem as well. This will give you marginal signal strength rain or not. Have True come back out and check alignment of dish.

Note, rain always comes when F1 or MotoGP guys are on starting line and the lights go green.

Yes, been having the same problem for over 10 years. We used to get the same problem when it was too sunny too so you could never win.

If it's available in your area then the only good solution I know of that works is to be switched from satellite dish to cable.

Heavy rain will knock out my signals throughout the channel spectrum but if it's light rain, have the lower channels OK.

Example my dish is now over 18 years old and moved to this house at only 3. Just a babe she was, pity is she is now a freaking great grandma that is well used from the rains and the sun. My house points due west. New subscribers get super deals, old ones especially if they are not Thai get shit. Just with the new one that got the English football had decent programming as well. But they are still building it.

We used to use it to predict the rain.

Signal goes off = rain about to come
Signal comes back on = rain about to finish

Just the rain fade...KU band more susceptible especially at higher frequencies..hence not all channels affected.

Bought an all singing all dancing LED replacement TV ..the only input for FTA set top box is HDMI ..my old box don't have it so on rabbit ears till I can be bothered to buy a new one..bugger!

    Well there you go.
Had true come out for a service call, explained the issue, they adjusted the dish, played with the signal settings and now it's pissing down and I can watch 117 with no fade.

The best solution is to get rid of UBC and when there is a sporting event you wish to watch go down your local pub to watch it and enjoy a cold beer with the money you are saving.

The cable service in Thailand has to be the worst in the world, value for money.

But the pub has the same service...
And my satellite is 800 baht a month, do you have any idea how much I would spend at the pub for double header?

Let alone the cost of the drinks while I watched two games of footy..

I am told that the 3 major sports pubs here in Pattaya including The Office in Bangkok have a superior service. Something about the server being in Perth allowing for a better connection.

In fact I can only remember on 1 occasion that the service dropped out.

800 Baht will buy me about 15 ice cold Tiger beers in the pubs I drink in plus you have the companionship of fellow sports fans to niggle.

Cheaper than Cox Satellite/Wireless or any of the other satellite providers in the States for the same content.

Last time I had satellite service in Orange County (been a few years back) it was >$100.00USD per month for less channels than I get now for 2,423.16THB translated to ~ $83.55USD. Wasn't HD either - hadn't been invented yet.

Well my friends pay 120 bucks a month. All the ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox shows are in high def with no premium. They have ESPN 1, 2, and 3. Nick at Night with all the great reruns. Choice of 6 or 8 NFL games on Saturday and Sunday. For baseball they show all the teams all the time, not just the Yankees.

Its okay, and has gotten better. They had too upon losing the EPL. But even with platinum I am now seeing reruns again. Good to go back to work full time and stop bitching about TV anyway.

And, we get channel #113 which is the best one on True Vision's lineup!

used to be bro, but all it is now is hockey and basketball highlights. This year I have to scramble to find the NBA finals. I am looking forward to NFL football. Last year they had MLB but this year no. Then True takes the non high def version as well. Fox Sport 152 has been doing the NBA finals and its so great in high def. They picked up the F1 from ESPN which really surprised me.

I tend to watch the documentaries on True, with CSI and the AXN channels thrown in.

If you pay platinum they should throw in the record box, and not charge you extra.

I am hoping this EPL thing will force even more changes. So many football fans are cancelling or adding the new service over this. This makes me happy.

A third world sat system made out of broken Soviet tractors and installed by mental midgets. I don't work properly when it's raining either.
These issues don't exist in the west where technology is superior but the women are a bit shit.

I was sat in that sports bar down soi 23, The Clubhouse, just over a year ago, watching the last games of the season. They had every EPL game on a different screen.
With 5 minutes remaining, all the screens went off. Some Thai guy with a radio outside relayed the messages on that Man City had won the league deep into stoppage time.
