    Audio books vs E-books?

    What do you guys reckon?

I'm listening to Soft Target right now by Stephan Leather. I've listened to over a dozen books by this guy (and read a few hard copies) but I just don't think you can beat the audio style. The voices alone make a better read/listen.

So,...Are you stuck in the dark ages with a numb right arm or do you plug in the earphones with a ciggy in one hand and a beer in the other and enjoy the book being read to you?

There are different types of people. For me reading beats listening every time. I would not even consider it. It's up to the individual.

For me, reading allows you full imagination of the characters within the book. Audio removes some of the imagination and video removes all of it.

To read one of those books that takes you from the monotony of your life and exposes you to your own imagination, completely and utterly, for several hours or more is the best escapism I can think of. Those that make you read their entirety, before putting down, are the true and rare classics of life. From childhood with a torch under the covers to the autumn of my life, with a missed day at work, I would always put reading before audio or video.

Back in my illustrating days I used to listen to audio books.

    Also when cooking.

I still like to read books the old way though.

    ebooks

I can't get into the audio books - I need to read , see the spelling , whole context etc and be able to go back and re read easily if I feel the need.

    Ahh, the dulcet tones of..nah.
    Sounds gay.
Also, I can read many times faster than I can listen.

That would be brilliant. From all my years of living here especially living though the construction of the Don Muang Tollway and the Skytrain at the same time with only non metered taxis, I developed claustrophobia. No music can calm me down. I just hate being stuck, not knowing why, and no way out. A book could be a life saver. thanks.
