What's a book?

Bit of a long book - "One Fourteenth of an Elephant" by Ian Denys Peek. Its about the Japs in Thailand during the WWII and their treatment of the POWs. The book is written by one of the POWs. Good book and recommend it for those who are interested in this subject.

Bonfire of the Vanities - Tom Wolf - I remember being 100% completely hooked on this book. I thought that it was spectacular. I think that I tried to re-read it, but the magic just was not there anymore.

Have you read Diary of a Nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith? Very funny - And I quote, "The book has spawned the word "Pooterism" to describe a tendency to take oneself excessively seriously."

I've not read the Sharpe ones, only the Stonehenge, Alfred series and Ancient Briton series (and maybe one more). All were superb.

Try Monsoon by Wilbur Smith. Most of his books are linked by two familes and I would recommend starting at the beginning of one of the two main series, but for a one-off read Monsoon.
