Backing up torrents

Whats the best way to back up your torrents to dvd so I can clear them off my pc?

I tried using CD BurnerXP Pro 3 but just keep getting an error.

Are the torrents protected?

i find convertx to dvd an excellent programme.

I just burn them as data.

But then they don't play on my DVD player.
It's quite old and can't play Div x files.

If you burn them as data do they still play on a dvd player as normal (assuming it plays divx?)

They will if you have a nice new up to date DVD player.
Mine won't, that's why I use ConvertX to DVD.

You can always give it a go first.

Yes, plus of course you can get a shit load more on the DVD. (8 - 9 hrs easily for most stuff)

Not sure what the make is, but I must get one.

Nothing happens of course. You just keep using the old version. It's not compulsory to use new software By the way, it's not just DivX, they work with just about any format a standard software media player will handle.

they've got decent LG ones in tesco lotus now. about the same as your mate payed.

I recommend the Panasonic (can't remember model number at the moment), it's about 3.5K. Much more 'solid mechanicals' - Some of the really cheap ones suffer badly from overheating.

I've just bought an 80gig external hard drive. I'm using this for downloads.

^ That's another good option. I've also seen players out there that let you plug an external HD in via USB (be careful though, because some of those do not support video playback via this, only audio).

Also you could get a USB HD enclosure that you can plug straight into your TV and it can handle the playback direct. I'm going to pick one up from Panthip and stick a 400GB drive in it.

However, I'd still burn backups to DVD because I wouldnt like the thought of an HD failure losing the lot
