how to watch True visions upstairs in bed ?

I know i could put a splitter on the box and run a cable up there, but i cant be bothered with going downstairs to change channels

If i wasnt such a cheap bastard i would get another box off true, but there must be another way

Someone told me theres something you can put in the back of the TV upstairs that receives downstairs signal and it comes with a remote.

Anyone know what its called, especially in Thai ?

Also the sat dish is close to the upstairs bedroom, is there a work around there ?

1 more thing, whats all this ER 02: please contact true care to register PVR services ?

Does that mean i have to freakin pay even though i could put a usb stick in the back to record programs ?

What you need is an IR repeater. From where? Don't know.

OR the remote works using modulated light and is line of sight, so some strategically placed mirrors would work.

If you don't want to get the extra box, move the box from downstairs to upstairs. You will need a splitter however to get a signal upstairs.

I had two of the IR repeaters (bought from and installed by True) in my old house- a small transmitter is attached to the satellite box and it changes channels via the unit that sits next to your upstairs TV (it came with a second remote I believe, but I'm not 100% sure of that).

I can't remember what they cost, but they couldn't have been too expensive- there's no monthly fee associated with them- the only drawback is that the upstairs and downstairs TVs have to watch the same channel, which can be an issue if two people want to watch different shows at the same time.

Same set up here. They have a True UBC box but it's the "free" package. Note, not free. They charge for box rental.

i got the box, paid 1000 baht for it, but that was with about 200 metres of cable, because of his retardedness and the language breakdown.

I was trying to show him how much i needed, so i pulled the end of his wire(leave it) and walked about 10 metres, while he left it loose and as i looked back there were about 20 coils. i couldnt be arsed to argue or try in vain to explain.

So I get it home, look in the box and theres no friggin remote, so i take the Missus this time and she tells me it doesnt come with one and will recognise the True remote.

anyhow, im trying to find someone to install it now, which is proving a pain as the local guys wife after we kniocked her door said she dont know what time he will be back and wouldnt phone him. He has loads of those skyboxes on display that used to be for pickingf up pirated truevisions until they encrypted.

i suppose i could do it myself, but i dont know how to connect to the dish.

then carefully strip your cable back like this to fit into it ,, simple even I have done it

Nige i think he was asking me how many metres of cable i needed from his reel,

So while he was holding the reel,( not the wire taughtly like a tape measure), i walked away with the end of the cable to about 4 market stalls away, only to look back and see him looked confused and a very loose cable that had re-circled itself many times, so i just bought the lot

The cheapest "video senders" in the UK are about £ 30 and I cannot imagine they are more expensive in Thailand. Be careful, however, as video sending is, obviously, wireless and its use can screw up you wi-fi internet connection if you have one.

Channels are changed remotely by using an attachment called an "eye", usually provided with the sender.
