    Thai Expat TV (UK Channels)

Not sure if its been covered here but has anyone had experience with https://www.thaiexpat.tv/ ?

I tried the 2 days trial and was quite impressed with the quality but I'm not sure if I want to give 8000 baht for the box and then the company disappears over night.

Well worth taking advantage of the 2 day trial now that the Olympics are on too even if you have no intention of signing up after.

I have a mate here who was looking to buy a box. like you he wanted to make sure it didn't vanish overnight like the last one did. When he couldn't get any answer from the company as to the legality of showing British TV he emailed the BBC and ITV asking them whether the said company had permission . They both said it was illegal to broadcast their programmes without their prior consent which they had not given and were looking into it.
The few programmes I want to watch I download as torrents for free.
Up to you as they say !
You pay your money and you take your chance.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

I've had it for about 6 weeks now (and about a dozen of my friends) and I'm very impressed. It was the final nail in UBC's coffin, IMO, so it was bye bye UBC.

Thai Expat TV is proud to announce our debut Open Day in Pattaya: Saturday 4th August & Sunday 5th August / 10am – 7pm (see poster below for map). Full details can be found on this link: https://www.thaiexpat.tv/pattaya.php

The Thai Expat TV team has a full demonstration showroom located opposite the Big C Superstore on Sukhumvit Road. You are all most welcome to bring the family and your laptop down and see what all the fuss is about.

There will be free refreshments all day and Thai Expat TV's friendly staff will be on hand to demonstrate their state-of-the-art set top box, which is guaranteed to blow you away with its unrivaled picture quality & sound.

The software player (Windows PC only) will also be available to play around with and you are invited to have the player installed on your laptop (don't forget to bring it) with a full 7 day trial, to really test out the system before you make any purchases.

If you are out of town or have friends going to or in the Pattaya area this weekend, please forward this message those individuals.

Hope to see you all there!

    Many Thanks,
    Thai Expat TV

I will ask the same question my friend asked but got no answer. can you confirm the legality of this operation as the information that I have is that what you are doing is without the consent of the TV channels you are re broadcasting .
I don't doubt it works perfectly well as does the pirated cable True visions / UBC here on Samui. That doesn't alter the fact they are doing so illegally.
A legally broadcast UK TV service is indeed a winner.
The last company that offered the same had to close. They did though refund any customers who had paid for the service.
I look forward to the reply

I say go for it, it's only 8000 baht, even if you only get a few months out of it, it is worth the risk IMO

Although, I'm not the best judge, having paid 5000 baht for a dodgy UBC box 3 weeks before the bastards encrypted all the channels

But what if it is only for a couple of days ? OK then ?
    YEAH RIGHT !
As I have said before it isn't about it being illegal. That doesn't really concern me. What does though is a company telling you it is illegal and you paying good money and then losing it overnight. If they tell you up front it is dodgy but any problems and they have to shut down they will refund at least some of your money that is fine. You know exactly where you stand.
I look at it like this.
I go to buy a computer. The guy in shop A tells me he can put a dodgy copy of windows 7 on it for 400 Baht. no worries. if in 3 months it goes all blank like they have a tendency to do you aren't going to be too upset.
Shop B on the other hand tells you the same thing or they can put an original copy on it for 6000 Baht. OK so you go for the original. 3 Months down the line it turns out to be a fake. You would be pissed. Same here.
I don't object to an honest scam. it is when they try to convince you it is 100% legit it pisses me off !
    Stupid I am not !
Lets see how long it takes for the sponsor, OOPS sorry he isn't even paying to flog his service here, to reply

If they was to get shut down any ideas if the box could be used for anything else? Or would it just become a paper weight?

At least with a dreambox it can be used to connect to different signal or dish.

^ A paperweight I would imagine as it only has English and no Thai TV on there.
By not adding any Thai channels to it, it does sound a bit moody. With my dodgy UBC box I can still get all the Thai Channels and 1 English-True Movie Hits.

I wouldn't rely in Internet for TV, especially not in Thailand.

    I don't think they've invented 10G yet. Do you mean 10Mb?

You can now order this illegal UkTv service straight from the owner Rainer Roessler AKA Thaivisa administrator RARO.
As it is proven to be illegal, I'm wondering how long it will take before the next Thaivisa administrator is deported from Thailand.

probably not very long if someone were to sneakily and nastily inform the bbc, the british embassy etc.etc.
