Floyd's great because he's not all poncey in flash kitchens etc etc, he goes into the villages and countryside and cooks the real stuff.....

    Nice to watch.

On the Malaysia parts he claimed he couldn't find any booze so was teetotal for the month they were there.

I reckon he smuggled some with him. Floyd without a drink on-screen is like an omlette without the eggs.

I've been watching a series of Gordon Ramsey going around the world and cooking up local dishes, very good, from the back country in India to the outskirts of Chiang Mai.
In Changmai he was taken to meet a woman who makes famously delicious spicey sausages.
He asked her if she would show him how she makes them.
You could hear the cogs clanking over inbetween her ears as she went still, eyeing him for a moment.
"If I show you are you going to sell them in foreign?"
It was obvious she was angling for a cut.
    Very fun show.
    Much prefer Ramsey to Floyd.

He died in 2009, his final programme / interview was sad to watch, (he called many of todays star TV chefs c**ts) and he was a shell of his former bubbly self.

Didn't he die in Phuket? I remember hearing that he had a restaurant there and that he had had a heart attack (I think), but there really wasn't much news on this or on him, as typical of Thai style news reporting.

He collapsed in Phuket, exhaustion I think, it wasn't heart attack.

There are still two places in a Phuket hotel called Floyds but I don't think any of the Floyd clan have anything to do with them now.
