Lets make an Almond slice ( with pics )

Ok now rain has stopped play in the veg garden I have scubbed up and am ready to have a go at this easy to make but very tasty little accompanyment to a nice cuppa .

Now I,m not gonna kid anyone I make pastry cause I dont I used to but its in my opinion not worth it anymore as there are plenty of ready mades awailable ( havin said that hope you can find it in your local Lotut )

Ingredients as follows to fit in a 6 " by 9" tin or roughly same area, if youve got a 12" by 18" just double it.

    1. 75g of good marg/ butter
    2. 75g of caster sugar
    3. 100g of ground almonds
    4. 1 free range egg
    5. 50g of self raising flour
    6. Raspberry jam
    7. Flaked Almonds
    8. Almond essence.

I used 450g of ready rolled sweet shortcrust pastry for the base .

Gentlemen start your ovens 180 degr for fan oven 200 non fan

Firstly I lightly grease and line the base of my tin with the pastry cut to size , I like to fork it a bit in the base to aid cooking

Next spoon the raspberry jam on the base

Mix together marg and sugar untill smooth then add the egg whisk in then add ground almonds and flour , it should look like this

Then we add the mixture on top of the pastry base like so , decorate wth flaked almonds.

Into the oven for 20 mins then bingo ! BUT before we go there I had a bit of pastry left over so quickly rolled it out and cut out some 8 circles 4 of them being slightly larger , lined a mince pie tin like so

Drop of mincemeat inside and we have some mince pies as a bonus ,, little egg wash on top

They can go in with the Almond slice same same 20 mins 180 degr and come out together like so

    Anyone for a slice ?

It really is delicious with a cuppa and very easy to make ,,,,,,cheers enjoy
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs
