    Benbaaa's Moules Marinieres

Gonna try my hand at this for the first time later today so I'll let you know how it goes.

Here's a recipe I got from various places around the 'net.

    * Heat butter in a large pan
    * Add chopped garlic and onions/shallots and soften them
    * Add dry white wine and a dash of lemon juice and bring to the boil
    * Add a kilo of fresh live mussels, scrubbed and de-bearded
    * Put the lid on and cook on high heat for a few minutes until they open
    * Remove mussels and set aside
    * Strain the cooking juices and return to the heat
    * Reduce the sauce a bit, then add cream, chopped parsley and salt and pepper to taste
    * Cover the mussels with the creamy, buttery, garlicky sauce
    * Serve with hot crusty bread and a nice crisp dry white wine

    Bloody salivating, I am...
The sleep of reason brings forth monsters.

A total, mouthwatering success. Dipping the bread in the sauce at the end was almost orgasmic...

As I said to you, the old man used to cook a similar thing with fresh muscles that I had pilfered.

    Magnificent dish.A taste sensation.

BTW, I used to like mussels but they are a real pain in the arse.
A lot of dicking around for a tiny amount of meat.

    Might try it with swordfish.

Wonder how sweet Thai basil would work in this excellent recipe.

I've eaten mussels done with a similar receipt in my favourite guestouse in Bkk some years ago and I have to admit it was delicious. Though some naamjim priik kratiam aside is welcomed for those who like it a little bit hotter.

Maybe you should try them with less chili.

Looks good BB but those tiny little Thai mussels are hardly worth eating. Because I have a massive knob I like mine big and meaty like this superb example.

Try taking them out of their shells before you insert them...

I do this with clams too and add any herbs I have to the broth and soak it up with garlic bread.

    Yummy!

Sorry, busy wiping the saliva off my keyboard.

Moules Marinières is one of my favorite dishes, and yes, well done sauce is a dish all by itself.

Fuck, I'm gonna go and have some tomorrow...

Bollocks. No fresh moules in Chiang Mai today. Well, not in Rim Ping or Carrefour, anyway.

Gonna try it with hoi lai, those little clam things.
