I'd give it a go, looks nice.
Was the fish deep fried?
Are the beans, kidney beans similar to what you'd get in a chilli con carne?

I believe the fish was indeed fried in a pool of really hot oil. The beans were black beans.

The beer was Imperial.

Standard for this part of the world. The fish looks like mojarra (tilapia) but NZ can confirm.

Had this a while ago to give me sustenance for the rest of my day in the fields: beans, rice, patacon (twice fried plantain) chips...and more potatoes in the vegetable soup.



In general the food is simple, heavy and limited in flavour with pretty much no spice whatsoever (you can ask for salsa picante on the side though). The meat can be tasty, but is often as tough as old leather because it's murdered on the grill.

In the Spanish speaking part of Latin America, Mexico rules the roost when it comes to tasty varieties of food, although Argentina and Uruguay are tops when one needs grilled beef.

Honourable mention to occasionally good Peruvian dishes and Argentinian empanadas.

Snapper, I think (unless tilapia can be caught in the sea).

The wife had the controls this evening. She prepared us a tasty dinner with stuffed chops, mash & gravy and green beans. Very little remains for leftovers.

Looks good, nothing like stuffin your chops. I luv mashed potatoes and gravy.

Then you're most likely missing the best bits according to my wife and her family: behind the gills and up to and behind the eye. Much to my annoyance, they will happily spend 1 hour in traffic because the exact same fish available anywhere on the island (Penang) is better at some obscure place 30 miles away, so we spend even more time seeking the joys of the fish and its flesh.

It never is and I'm cursing on the way home.

You get used to it after a while marrying into a Chinese family.

The pork makes up for it anyway.

Needed some comfort food. Was going to have shepherds pie with baked beans but realised I had some mini yorkies in the freezer. Looks gross but it was lovely. Especially on a grey, rainy day.

Is there cheese on there?
If so.. Good skills

Probably the tastiest home made fish and chips I've ever had celebrating fathers day yesterday. .

Dig a slightly more shallow furrow in the ground so that the bar can be placed somewhere.

Granted the picture doesn't do the meal justice.

I forget exactly how much the sprouts cost but they weren't very expensive. I'll look next time I'm out shopping.
