The colour is due to the paprika powder.

My mother in law died on the 26th here in Thailand, today was the funeral. It was suggested we go to the "Filipino restaurant" after the body was put in the burner, I resisted a bit as the last time I was there, it was shite.

Now, I can't recommend the place enough, this is seriously good food.

    From top to bottom

Pinakbet then fried eggplant then Kinilaw (cerviche), fried pork knuckle and the best part ...beer and sisig (pork face parts seared, the perfect match with beer)

Kinilaw is my fav to. Be sure to use the flip vinegar called datu puti when you make it. Not sure where you will find it in bangkok. Ask a flipper perhaps. Theres a sauce called mang thomas that goes well with the pork knuckles to

We forgot to pick some up yesterday...the restaurant also has a small shop of Filipino condiments....we're asking family members if they have any. You're right, the taste difference is amazing, it's also what the wife uses to make adobo.
