Try Tops supermarket...they have them almost all of the time.

Jeezuz, there's always radishes available at any of the supermarkets in Pattaya. Growing your own is a piece of piss as well. I love them but can't eat them, well I can but the downside is burping radish odored gas for the next 3 days

Anyways, dinner tonight was a rib-eye with pepper sauce and some veg on the side. That's some chopped up chilies and jalapenos on top of the pumpkin mash, worked well and gave the dish a bit of heat.

^ Looks great, despite the sprouts.....nasty bits of veg they are.....

An oddity yes, but one will find them growing in the northern [and altitude] climes for the particular domestic market.

As Topper has mentioned already - can be found in select supermarket chains...yet, not the local markets, as Thais usually don't gravitate towards them.

The nearest tops to me is udon thani , sounds like a perfect excuse for a weekend of debaucherie and radishes, reckon the missis will understand, oh I'm just of to udon to get some radishes dear. Hmm sounds like a plan, Thanks for the inspiration slappers.

I still don't recall seeing them in Laos, then again I've never really set out with the intention of looking for them

Fair enough mate and each to their own. I absolutely hated them (and pretty much all other vegetables) as a kid but like many foods, we may develop a taste for them as we grow older.

The turning point for me was having dinner at a friends house many moons ago and the way his Missus cooked them made all the difference. She put some on my plate and to be polite I ate them, and really liked them, so I asked her about how she cooked them. Instead of boiling the fuck out of them till they were a green bitter mush she simmered them till they were just tender, the drained them, then gently rolled them around in a bowl with butter and some fresh cracked sea salt and pepper. Bloody beautiful, give it a go some time.

Funny how as we grow our tastes change.

As a kid I quite liked blue cheese on toast. Hate it now.

Things I hated then that I still hate are sprouts, asparagus and offal.
Things I hated then but now love are spinach, artichoke hearts, oysters, broccoli and it's pale cousin, mostly due to the way it was cooked then v now I guess.

I rather like asparagus now, the wife gives it a quick fry with butter and tons of garlic....and am a whole lot bigger on veggies than I was in my youth.

As a kid, the biggies on the no like list were peas, lima beans, liver and sprouts. I still can't stand them. Today when the wife cooks liver, I sit outside as the smell is just noxious to me.

With anything cheese other than Kraft American cheese slices I couldn't abide by as a kid, now it's just the opposite, those little cheese slices conveniently wrapped in plastic taste just like the plastic they're wrapped in.

And I've got to agree with the broccoli and cauliflower....I've grown to love them. We steam a combo of them and then add a bit of butter and S/P and that's good eating....

I liked sweets and chocolates. You wouldn't have been invited to my tree house as a kid, with your blue cheese on toast

I have lost my sweet tooth now though, although I don't get those who don't give their kids sweets. Kids need all the energy they can get.

As for Blue Cheese, I have a really high Gag Reflex, especially when it comes to stinky fish or cheese. Oh and oysters, if you can neck them you could probably swallow someone's
