    I got popadoms

Now we do get these occasionally, but thats from Belucky which means driving all the way through Pattaya to Naklua which is like a major journey, so this time I tried the little Indian store next to the Mosque behind the South Pattaya market, should mention they got English teabags in there.

Anyway the papadums are 50baht per packet, probably 20 in there, but condiments is the question, normally have 4, mango chutney is one, ok thats easy enough, but the Indian restaurants in Thailand don't give the same condiments as we get in the UK, here quite often little pickled shallots are one of them, don't remember having them in the UK, so what are the condiments we get with a curry in the UK, was lime pickel one of them? The green minty one? Probably going to need recipes as well to make them

I also picked up a Shan meat and vegetable curry mix for 60baht so shall be giving that a try tomorrow.

Nice, those ones in the first pic are the ones that I get. The wife has actually just gone out to get some for tomorrows vindaloo.

They were, spicy mango, sweet mango, the minty one and I can't remember what the 4th one was.

Any idea how to make the minty one?

I don't remember 2 sorts of mango, could well be wrong, my friends restaurant does the minty one, probably have to threaten to kill her newborn to get the recipe I do like that one though, and to be fair she did once make me a big jar of it

If she gets you the wrong ones turn the packet over, you'll find they are the same, had me confused in the shop as well as the packaging just doesn't look right with 2 completely different labels front and back.

Was perhaps the spicy mango really the lime pickle one, they must bulk that out with something, can't all be just limes.

You've got mango chutney which is the sweet one and then the spicy one was the one that blew your head off and you'd dare each other to eat it when your pissed. Dark brown, almost black colour.

I didn't know it was mango until I was round my mates house and his dad pulled out a few jars of his favorite stuff.

I like putting a bit of all three on each poppadom.

There is 4 though, always remember 4 jars with four silver lids and 4 silver spoons, used to have equal amounts of each on each bit of papadom, I just have no idea what the 4th one could be, sliced pickeled onions maybe, naaa, don't seem right.

Ok that spicy mango must be the lime pickle, only jars they had was mango chutney and the lime pickle chutney, albeit it was an odd color, ie yellowy, trouble is all their stuff is from India so not really labelled for us non Indians, I shall get a jar of it tomorrow, think the mint sauce has a limited time span so has to be made fresh and thats why it isn't imported, or maybe it is real easy to make? Mint is cheap here.

I've been thinking a lot about poppadoms recently because the sadistic fucks in the markets sell something that look remarkably similar..they look like the large plain variety but after parting with 10 baht I discovered they were sweet and made out of sticky fucking rice...blaaaaaaaaaa..not nice.

Never seen it, but I probably frequented a better class of restaurant.

Never mind, just copy what they do up north and dollop some mushy peas on it.

Hope I haven't upset anybody with the word chinky, I should add all the chinky restaurants round where I lived were run by Vietnamese so they probably would be upset by being called Chinese.

Best Indian restaurant I used to go to was in Bexleyheath, open till 2am, pubs closed at 11pm in those days, got closed down for serving to much rodent poo with the meals, soon as it was opened we all ordered our meals, and asked for rodent poo with it, the worrying thing is thinking about it they did put rodent poo into it
