Well done Mathos ! The pineapple was not missing from the gammon , merely from SabSab's head .
Well done Mathos ! The pineapple was not missing from the gammon , merely from SabSab's head .
I am lucky LT, very lucky.
The diet is OK, I lost Three stones and eight pounds up to Christmas, (50 lbs)
that's quite good.
Put about 6 lbs on over the Christmas period,
but I've just about knocked that off again.
Four inches off the waist.
I want to get about another stone off,
(14 lbs) and I'll be happy at that.
It's just a question of maintaining it then.
I'm doing the gym at least three times a week,
sometimes four and I'll be back cycling in a few days.
All in all, I am quite chuffed with the effort and results.
All the women take their blouses off
And the men all dance on the polka dots
It's closing time !
Flobo had bought a nice corn fed farm chicken
for Sunday last.
It looked good when it came out of the oven.
She prepared some swede, carrot and parsnip.
Nicely chopped before going in the pan with a bit of broccoli.
The parsnips were roasted along with a few roast potato's.
A bit of stuffing to go with it.
Made a nice tasty meal.
Must say, it's well worth paying the extra
for a free range chicken.
Beautiful.
Are you not allowed to eat the crispy skin?!!!
Great meals Mathos.............not sure about the black plates though, maybe i am just old fashioned.
wow looks so good.
I want to know how to make a roast dinner, had many in Australia that was so good.
I hope you don't mind my criticism, my ex-wife could cook a superb roast
It looks a bit small,
I like my roast potatoes small and a bit blackened underneath,
I don't like swedes or parsnips, I would replace those with brussel sprouts.
Also I like my stuffing wrapped inside streaky bacon
Could do with a couple of Yorkshire puddings on there too
And I'd swap the chicken for New Zealand lamb.
Oh, sorry I've just read about the diet
Take it there was no home made apple crumble for dessert then ?
Thanks for sharing Mathos
This was nice.
Flobo made and baked a really tasty Cheese and onion pie.
Grandma Singletons Cheese too.
Then she grilled some rashers of really
nice thick cut lean back bacon.
Pie out of the oven.
Served it up with a few small roast potato's and some of those small tasty
vine tomato's.
Really nice meal.
^Looks fantastic
Some diet. Is it working?Originally Posted by Mathos

It was a really nice meal.
I try to take a comprehensive view of what is required Marmers.
It isn't easy.
First of all I have to determine what exactly a healthy diet means.
It's no good simply living off rabbit food and water.
OK that would be beneficial towards a fast reduction in weight,
but it wouldn't give me the energy I need for regular
physical work, plus exercise.
Also it is important to maintain a healthy immune system.
A poor diet can induce all sorts of illnesses. I think as we
age we are more prone to numerous problems with health
and not taking in the right foods could exacerbate the same.
If I balance up sensible eating with regular exercise
allowing for the work levels I undertake then it works well enough.
A younger man in manual employment, perhaps
exercising or playing weekend football will need
around 4,500 calories a day. If I work a few hours four
days a week or so, plus exercise four or five days weekly
for an hour or two each day, I will probably need less than
half of what the younger fellow needs.
Last year, being reasonably serious about losing weight
I took off fifty pounds. Since Christmas and not doing so
much manual work in the months Jan-March, nor cycling
at all hardly, I have gained about eight pounds.
Now I am back to cycling four or five days each week,
for roughly ten miles each session, manual work in the garden
is a regular part of life for the next seven or eight months,
but I have virtually stopped going to the gym, because in all honesty,
I find gym exercises tedious, not enjoyable at all.
I do tend to over-eat, and also have a sweet tooth,
part of how things have been since I stopped smoking,
almost four years ago.
I hardly drink at all.
I normally start the day with a bowl of porridge,
hot milk and a spoonful of honey.
I also have fruit, about three or four decent portions daily.
Lunchtime is normally a bowl of soup or a
very low calorie snack.
I have one decent meal of an evening, and in general keep it small
but as the photographs show on some of the posts I have done
the portions can be on the large size.
If we go out once a week I do have a decent meal at
lunchtime, but tend to be choosy and not to overdo it.
I don't have a meal at home on the same day either.
I have very little fried food, have regular
checks for cholestrol levels plus blood pressure.
I manage an ECG once a year as well.
All are good. (Thankfully)
Another good thread, Mathos.
Do you think a thread with the title 'Good American Meals' would be one of the shortest in TD history?
Thought I'd best get a few additions to this food thread.
Winters in now, so the cooking is fine.
Nice piece of Grandma Singletons Extra Strong Cheese
along with a big fresh onion or two.
Nice shallow Pyrex dish or similar, line the same
with a cover of pastry.
The pastry base is just margarine, flour,
cooking fat, salt and water.
You can add the mix, to the pastry as it is or blend the same
in a mixing jug, with a little milk added.
Optional.
Add more cheese and onion, to make a really
thick and tasty pie.
Roll the pastry topping/lid and cover the pie.
Cook the same on a setting of 190 (Electric) for twenty five minutes or so.
It looks pretty good when you take it out.
Brilliant aroma.
You can grill some nice smoked back bacon,
boil a few sprouts, and it makes a very tasty
meal indeed.
I like my bacon well cooked, obviously the options
are open to individual choice.
just done the whole thread and its a credit to the chef.good on her.
just wondering why theres no gravy,??
