    Question Essential Kitchen Ingredients

What are your essential kitchen ingredients? By this I mean what are the ingredients (tinned/fresh/bottled/whatever) that you keep in the kitchen at most times. Ie you can just stop off and by some chicken or beef or whatever on the way home and know you can knock up a decent meal in the house.

Always #1 is salt and pepper.

These two babies go on EVERYTHING I cook.

If you watch/read any of those Gordon Ramsay/Jamie Oliver shows and books. You will see that lemon rind and juice with a dash of olive oil is added to absolutely everything they cook!
Sure these dudes even put it on their cornflakes in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

    I married a Southern girl.
Bu Do sauce is special fish fermented sauce from the southern part of Thailand. Southern Thai people love to eat Bu Do sauce with fresh vegetables or mix with spicy rice salad.
If she has not got any she gets a face on sometimes we manage to buy some in Bangkok a trip to a food show at Impact Muang Thong Thani,or sometimes its posted up from Yala.Other wise we have to head south to buy some.Great 7000 baht flight for 6 bottles of Budo.
Can't make a good Gaeng Som without Budo.
Oh also have to have Sataw.

A few good cook books are a must but lately I have been getting some great recipes off the internet........to give to my wife of course.

Oh....and a good oven will make or break your baked meals and pastries. In my opinion electric ovens are far better then gas.

Good to see that nobody uses that poison MSG.

I think it must be the first ingredient used in most Asian kitchens.

I've actually fallen out quite badly with a few Filipino helpers before now because they insist in putting that crap in Lil Digits food, they just cant seem to get it into their heads that its not good stuff.
