Mexican restaurant Menu in Thai and English

My wife and I are opening a restaurant out in Bangbon. It won't be very bi (might seat about 20 pax).

I'm just starting to write the menu and am trying to find the Thai words for some of the dishes.

Does anyone know if there are comparable Thai words to

"Burrito"

"Fajita"

"Wrap"

"Nachos"

"Quesadilla"

Thanks for anyone who can steer me in the right direction, I've looked online in Thai/English Dictionaries but couldn't find anything except "Taco".

I think all you can do is a description of the foods, I doubt if they have real thai words for most mexican food and if they do most thais wouldnt know those words.

Always figured Mexican food was too Macho. Maybe this way it'll get to discover it's other side.

Phonetic thai equivalent may be the way to go. That's what other places seem to do.

Thai people aren't going to be patronizing any mexican restaurant.(they hate cheese for the most part). If they are so inclined they will be educated enough to read in english.
A mexican restaurant will attract well travelled european and americans.
If you want to serve thai customers you just need to copy the menu from a good Issaan restaurant. Somtam, kao niao, catfish, some of the fragrant
issaan condiments.
If you want success figure out your demographics and play to that audience. Write out your business plan and study your location. You have to understand "location".
Thinking thai people will eat mexican food is silly. It's almost as silly as thinking that Thai enjoy east indian food.( they don't)

Once thais gt their mind wrapped around tryin something different they'll love mexican food. My ex and current both love it. gettin 'em to try it? Might be tough.

The thing is that good isaan food is so much better and tastier than mexican.
I do like mexican food, I miss the black beans dishes, posole, tacos all pastor, menudo, pancita, cecina. Thai people already do some similar things.
I lived in mexico city for 2 years and haven't really ever found very good mexican food outside of mexico.
There are too few good issaan restaurants, and we already know thai people like issan food.

There is a restaurant in CM on the river about 200-300 meters up from the US embassy which has perhaps the best issaan food I've had. (the place that is run by Lana Commins' mother. The music there is very enjoyable too. But pay attention to the food and notice who the clientele is. It's an even mix of Thai and farang.
That place should be visited if you are thinking of opening a restaurant in a Thai venue.

I can easily see how people might acquire a dislike for Isaan food because of the wide range of quality. I've noticed that the places that manage to do it well are very popular amongst Thai and Farang alike.
Not all Isaan food is pungent like what many of the street vendors peddle to the bar ladies and workers in general.

It's off of phetkasem road, past Bangkae near Thonburi.

I ran a few Restaurants in Taiwan (Italian, German and Mexican) and realize the reluctancy scenario that I will be up against. My wife is Thai as well, so we have no illusions of converting many Thais, but are going to do some "wraps" which have gotten popular here as the "Roti" craze has hit.

However most of our customers will be Farang and we have a captive audience out here as there are no restaurants serving anything resembling western food in this area and I have yet to eat any decent Mexican food here in Thailand.

Agreed I like Mexican food and haven't found a decent restaurant in Thailand.
The only place I've had good mexican food outside of Mexico are places where there is a strong mexican population.
I live in Patong and the Indian restaurants don't do well. Even with all the tailors. But they seem to cater to the fast tourist buck and quality suffers. I love indian food too but I only go to indian restaurants in KL or BKK now.
I've been observing the restaurants that do do well for the past three years.
Two are Italian
Another is a small Swiss restaurant whose owner is a master chef and has a strong following with the local expats who are mostly Germans.
Another is an old standby called the Islander which does brit food very well along with thai food.
Then there is a handful of Thai places that cater to tourists where the food is good clean and reasonably priced.
I'm not familiar Thonburi so haven't a clue to the demographics.
You are right if you can do a mexican restaurant right people will come but it may take a while for word to get around.
Since you've already been in the biz you know you have your work cut out for you.
Keeping it small is smart because you can do everything right and just one or two stupid staff members can blow it for you.
