Stainless steel BBQ

Anyone point me in the right direction here?? I have seen the 2 companies that advertise heavily in the Bangkok post etc.... any smaller cheaper places to get a BBQ? Know of anyone selling a second hand one??

I bought one from this place up in Udon a couple of years ago. Check out this site, its pretty nice. Good quality and a bit below the import prices.

I'm pretty sure you can get Webber's from stores like Carrefour and the like. Not sure if they're actually original/legitimate ones but the ones I've seen seem to get the job done. No idea on price(s) though sorry.

My bottom rusted out after about 6 years or so. Got tired of using a whole roll of aluminum foil to keep the charcoal in. The Webers are a good value.

Do you know if they're the genuine Webers? Few mates of mine swear by them (the original jing-jing ones). US made I believe, but I've heard there are some Chinese knock-offs avaliable too.

I have been told that most of the good quality Barbeques (including the Stainless Steel variety) are made in China and you can buy them direct at a fraction of the sale price here.

Quite possibly, and if you asked nicely one of our China based members can order and send one to you direct.

In the meantime I will follow up with my local contact and get the china factory outlet details.

I believe they are real. Check the paint and make sure its a thick ceramic. Great barbecues for cheap college kids. Put that top on seal the vents and use the same charcoal twice.

If it's made in China, it'll be shit like everything else (including the people) made in China.

That's where your wrong mate!

In fact, and after talking to our mutual friend, he has admitted that the barbeques he was importing from Oz he can now buy from China at a fraction of the price with no quality issues particularly the stainless steel ones.

FFS its only a barbeque after all and how can the chinese fvck up something so simple?

I inherited a Aust made BBQ, brought here for 55K baht , gas fired. I would be disappointed in it if I had paid 55K.
The hood is enameled steel, most of the rest (except for frame) is SS but marks easily so suspect its some sort of ferritic stainless.
The Rotisserie rod is badly buckled, almost unusable. The main problem is being gas the fat residue doesn't burn, for an hours use I spend 3 hrs cleaning the dammed thing, its a mess to clean.
I would far rather have a charcoal BBQ, bit of pissing around to get it going but than again you don't spend hours cleaning the thing and you get a better taste.

Had a look at Doc's made in Udon ones, as in AO's link, they are superbly crafted and made from proper Stainless.

There's also a few stainless steel fabricators building good quality barbies in Pattaya and they are about 3/4 price and when compared to these imported over-priced Barbeque Galore stuff.

One place is on third road just up from Tony's Gym and we brought an industrial size deep fryer and it is a peach.

There are none near Roiet that I know of unless some else knows of one which has opened. Only in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.

My 55-gallon monster lasted about a year. Finally, bought a stainless steel one from here in BKK. At that time nobody had any Webers. Plus the charcoal was expensive. Still have not found any good slow burning Thai charcoal.

I love my Weber (I got lucky and was able to have it shipped from the States for free after buying it at a discounted US price)- how much is a propane-fueled Weber in Thailand (I realize using a gas-grill is a sin for some of you...)?
