not a bad drop of plonk

A few weeks ago I purchased a couple of bottles of a cheap Ozzie Cab Shiraz called from Carrefour called Bushmans Gully. Suprisingly considering its under 400 Baht a bottle its quite a drinkable drop. Since my discovery I have worrked my way through about 12 bottles. There is a bit of wine glut in OZ so now I understand they are looking for every opportunity to shift the stuff overseas.

Not quite sure how this post got in the capns kitchen, it should have been down below, maybe too much of the Bushmans.

There is a huge wine glut in australia at the moment.

    $4-9 per bottle = 110 = 250 baht a bottle.

Tonight i drank a jacobs creek shiraz for $8. Beautiful.

I plan to come to Thailand next weekend with a suitcase full if there is any takers

Is there any truth to the rumor that the FTA between Oz and LOS will result in less tax being applied to wines from down under? If so, when? I'm feeling a bit wine-parched at the moment.

I think that is the case buadhai and it is slowly being implemented but they wont be completely tax free for another year or so.

My favourite in the UK was an Aussie shiraz called "North Landing" but I haven't seen it in Phuket. All the shiraz's are so damned expensive compared to the UK, but recently Big C had a special "buy 1 get 1 free" on "Sunnycliff" shiraz cab. I got quite a few of them - very nice, but still pricey (750 baht for the 2). I wouldn't pay 750 baht for 1, that's for sure.

I guess I would somehow have to actually go to BKK.

I suspect that would mean that I have to travel the 55km or so into BKK and meet you.

Or I could go to see AO or MTD or somebody else.

Dammt I have no bike and that would mean public transport or groveling to the missus to use her car.

Fuckit I will buy another bike.

    "why"

"Theres not enough room for the rum"

"Rum! Why are we bringing rum"

"oh for this nutter who lives in Thailand who I have never met"

    mmmmmmmm

    Luxury

Wife arrived back from the UK bringing her loving husband 4 bottles of Rioja....my favourite

    Faustino Grand Reserve
    Faustino Reserva
2 Campo Viejo Reservas (better than the Grand Reserva)

    Top lass she is

She also topped it off with 2 large boxes of Celebrations, a box of Belgian selection and a box of Cadbury's Heroes
