What is your favourite"In a hurry" Sandwich.

I often find myself hungry outside of mealtimes and also often forget to eat. Result = I need something quick and tasty, so i resort to my favourite quick sandwich. Corned Beef and Beetroot. (or tomato ketchup if i have run out of beetroot).

What is your favourite quick sndwich?

Cheese and Pickle on thick granary slices - absolutely bloody lovely. However at the moment I finding it quite hard to locate all three of those ingredients where I live so I just make do with ham, shit ham at that..

Definately not a quick one but great none the less... A decent crusty french baguette with lollo rosso, a sprinkling of oregano and black pepper, topped off with baby octopus in vinegar with a fine shropshire blue cheese....

Ham and swiss on french bread with mustard, tomato and lettuce -- and a fat dill pickle.

I miss a well-stocked Jooish deli. There was a fantastic deli on 43rd and 8th Ave near the Port Authority parking garage in Manhattan I went to for years. Never seen anything like it since.

    - lets not overlook and consider the need to savor enjoy the food we eat. Take a few extra moments heat up a healthy serving of corned beef with a slice or 2 of Swiss cheese. At the same time, heat up some sauerkraut in the microwave. While all of that is heating up, slice 2 hearty pieces of seeded rye bread. When the Swiss cheese is melted and the corned beef is hot, put that on a slice of the rye, put the hot sauerkraut on top of that and then put on some Thousand Island salad dressing and then the second piece of rye bread. Slice the bread and add a whole dill pickle on the side. Rubin Sandwich. One of the finest and well worth the not hurrying for.

Dagwood Sandwich - It is a multi-layered sandwich with a variety of fillings. Used to denote a sandwich put together so as to attain such a tremendous size and infinite variety of contents as to stun the imagination, sight, and stomach of all but the original maker.

Dagwood sandwiches, a term so well-known it made Webster's New World Dictionary.

1930 - A term that originated in the comic strips in the 1930s after a comic strip character named Dagwood Bumstead, a character in the "Blondie" comic strip. According to the creator of the comic strip, Murat Bernard “Chic” Young (1901-1973), the only thing that Dagwood could prepare in the kitchen was a mountainous pile of dissimilar leftovers precariously arranged between two slices of bread. Dagwood became know for his huge sandwiches he created on evening forays to the refrigerator.
The comic strip is produced today under the direction of the creator's son, Dean Young, the strip has continued to keep up with the times.
