Straying from tomatoes just a mo (but keeping in with red fruit!), I saw a food programme once where they recommended strawberries with basil & balsamic dressing. I don't know whether I think that sounds gorgeous or gross. Anyone ever tried it?

Doesn't sound like an enjoyable combination to me, I will ask my kids as they seem to enjoy some weird and wonderful food combinations.

Two of my favorite Things with Tomatoes.

Bruchetta, a plate full of these with a nice espresso, I don't need much else.

Toasted Baguette covered with Tomato meat sauce and cheese.

^ That baguette looks the duck's guts. This thread has me thinking of some tomato soup ... any recommendations how to make a kick-arse tomato soup?

Dead easy, Wayne, I keep plenty of cooked tomato concentrate in my freezer so I just thaw it, cook it up with basil and add cloves from a head of roasted garlic, Salt Pepper and about 25% added milk.
    Ya got it.

Cut half a sweet pepper and de-seed.
Place a cherry tomato or half a normal tomato inside the pepper.
Add piece of goats cheese and grill or bbq
Eat with chunky bread to mop up the juices.

Sungold. Best tomato ever. Bite-sized little self-contained packages and sweet just like candy they are. Matures in 65 days.
