Do you/can you sling some herbs in to make the rice taste better Hilly? I used to bung some Jasmin in but I just used a saucepan. Maybe it will make the rice cooker pong of Jasmin forever. In which case its a bad idea.

The we still have to discuss the care and maintenance of the rice cooker.

You know I am into washing up.

God its hard not posting in creole when responding to your posts Hillbilly.

Not a big fan of rice cookers.

My depression era Dutch Oven will cook rice on the stove top, the fire place or on the flaming ruins of puppy hospital in Iraq. The rice robot is a soulless machine that will be the downfall of Asian civa-liz-A-SHAWN. Besides, makin' Jambalaya in a machine is a mortal sin that will land thee in the special level of HELL reserved for child molesters, cooks who use instant rice, and people who talk on their cell phones in movies.

Yes, You can add about anything you want, I sometimes add some sauted onion and a small bottle of salsa and some finely cut jalapenios and we have a mex style rice, my wife and kid eat it and sometimes ask for it.
Goes well with steaks ranchero made with angus ribeye steak.
But add the salsa to your water so it comes out 2 parts water to 1 part rice..as has been stated.
Or sub a can of chicken broth instead of water.

I sometimes toss in 2 or 3 Chinese sausages while cooking the rice. When teh rice is done then remove the sausages and slice thinly and eat over the rice.

This & little bit of cheese cloth is all you need to cook perfect rice.

them other things make pretty good stew pots though
