I have just had a kitchen installed in my house that was the subject of this thread:
    https://teakdoor.com/building-in-thai...use-house.html

I will be doing an update of the thread in the next week or so but I am currently in Jomtien and my wife has been at the house for over a month supervising the work and has my camera with her doing before and after photos.

I went up for a few days about a month ago and the kitchen was looking great.

I have bought wall tiles for it in Pattaya as there is more choice down here and I will be taking them up next week for fixing.

I will post an update asap.

Simple, one window on both side so we have a lot of light and fresh air while cooking.

And .. nice kitchen LT, beautiful wood.

For a Thai style kitchen Wally, thats a good one and almost exactly like the one in the place we moved out of.
Only complaint is that the benches are always made for short arses.

    Best Kitchen EVER!!

Seriously, my mother-in-law makes the most amazing Thai dishes in this kitchen... and my father-in-law makes the most fantastic fried fish... I make a hell of a steak (get them on the cheap at Makro), and when my father-in-law slaughters the fatted calf, he cooks it in strips over the clay pot in the front yard, we drink Archa Beer and Rice Whiskey with M150 and sing Karaoke!! The whole family shows up, the kids dance, the uncles fight, the police turn up... and have a few drinks with my PolSgtMaj Fatherinlaw!!

Not rich... but, Life is good.

We have a decent sized kitchen.

Plenty of room for all Flobo needs, be it just for the two of us,
or a house full, if she is making a buffet,
or a meal for a few friends.

It's good to have the large kitchen table, Flobo likes her 'Welsh Dresser.'

I like the big arm chairs at the front of the fire.

You can see the utility room off to the right on the above photograph,
    it's practical.

There's an additional sink and oven in there as well which comes in handy for fast cooking and other such times.

    An extremely large room.

Approximately 30 foot long and maybe getting on for 20 foot wide.

As Flobo says, the cleaning of the house in general keeps her fit and active, every day.

I just like getting down in one of those arm chairs with a nice brew after a few hours working outside, especially this time of the year.
All the women take their blouses off
And the men all dance on the polka dots
    It's closing time !

Thanks LT, it is, it's nice to feel cosy.

It's been terrific being in there this winter when the snow has been falling thick and fast.

    Special days and memories.

We recently reclaimed part of our back verandah and built a kitchen which looks out onto the pool and rear garden.

As we were restricted with regards to budget we employed a new kitchen guy who promised to give us a good kitchen for 70,000.00 Baht.

Well and as you see within the first week things started falling apart and just recently the pantry door fell off.

The old lesson learned again. You only get what you pay for and where's my tool box!

anyway, this is ours in CM city, in our creaky wooden house

the floors are grey granite, the worktop is black granite. The cupboards are teak

    around the corner

there is an halogen hob, the tiles are local handmade jobbies

it is fairly small but enough. The women often sit on the floor with a kantoke table and eat and chat

I actually designed the kitchen myself, and made the cupboards. Quite enjoyable

The tiling I left to the pros, and I don't like doing it anyway

You have a nice situation there LT, but I hate those type of "units". As you mention, they are often poorly made
    I have reported your post

I like it. Seriously. A kitchen for cooking in so it gets my vote, except perhaps for the box full of cat shit. Two things I've never been keen on in kitchens - carpets and cat shit.

Thanks Wallalai and it is even better looking from the outside. You can see what I mean by reclaiming part of the back balcony.

You will also notice the stinky food cooking area which is a must!

Plenty of people have gone off that balcony head first into the pool with thankfully no injuries or deaths.

There is also a Klong directly behind from where I am taking this picture which makes it a lovely location to live at.

Thanks Pete, it's how we like it, warm, cosy and inviting.

If some of my mates pay a visit on a cold day or night and we have a brew or two in there, they don't want to get up and leave.

It used to be a door, leading outside Jizzy.

When we had the alterations done (1998) not wanting an external door in that section at all, we had it bricked up,
Flobo wanted a bit of a feature.

A friend (artist) painted a local street scene in the rebated section as shown.

fair enough... The cat shit is on the outskirts...far away from any of the food... the kitchen is actually outside of the house... I actually stuck it out there cause the wife is full of baby and the litter has got nasty chemicals in it. I'm thinking about it now... and maybe that wasn't my smartest idea...

Yes LT's kitchens are very nice in deed, the pictures don't do them justice..

But LT is that first kitchen in the house downstairs that I didn't have the chance to see?? It's fantastic!! very efficient working triangle space, not too large nor too small with plenty of counter space and the wood is.................unmentionable..

BTW did I mention I have plenty of tools too??
