I'll quote myself.

Here's my recipe for the perfect cuppa, British Standard, my favorite drink also. This even makes Liptons taste good.

1. Get your boiling hot water and pour it over a tea bag.

2. Leave for 2 min.

3. Pour 1 bag of brown and one bag of white sugar over the bag. (This releases even more flavour).

4. Dunk the bag and spin the water for a good 30 sec and then squeeze the bag over a spoon.

5. Add cold milk slowly and stir until you have the perfect golden colour.

I always make 2 at a time for myself because you always want another and its hard to get 2 exactly the same on your return visit to the kettle when the water has cooled a little.

Pot you obviously have no idea how to make a decent brew so I will retract for you any future invitations you may have had for me to come round your for a cuppa tea. You are though welcome to come round mine to be properly schooled on the subject.

As I said before, milk in first is a classic school boy error unless making tradional tea with the leaves and the strainer thing.

As long as were into The Tea Thread, apart from your bantys and debates of preperation technique, we could easily examine the type of teas that one might prefer. Or the rich history of teas. Outside of the stereotypes, Asians {partucularly Chinese} take tea in diversely. Some teas in Hong Kong, and other places, can fetch as much as $US600-700 per ounce....one of those great historic commodities!

I'm a bit partial to Twinnings English Breakfast tea at the moment. But my favorite is Yorkshire Tea. Like tea used to be. (I'm not from Yorkshire BTW)

I used to be a PG Tips man, but now I'm a 'whatever is on offer' when I need to replenish stocks, sort of guy.

Quite like Dilmah tea from Oz as well.

Hate Earl Grey and any other poncey smelling stuff.

I gave up on all that milk nonsense ages ago, no sugar either.

I thought you looked a bit caffeine affected last time I saw you. Had eyes the size of Marty Feldman's and that brings me to the next question.

People have debated that tea has more caffeine effect than coffee and I question that theory.

Can anyone educate me about the facts and with regard to this theory (Coffee verses Tea and caffeine content)?

Tea leaves do contain more caffeine than coffee beans. However when brewed into a beverage a cup of coffee will generally have 3X the amount of caffeine than a same sized cup of tea. However caffeine values for both beverages vary widely depending on the type of beans/leaves used and the brewing method as well as the amount of beans/leaves used.

I just had a really strong cup of tea with 2 imported English tea bags (as I normally do) and it has certainly given me a bit of a lift.

Coffee never seems to affect me as much and I normally have a cuppa (coffee) with biscuits or cake and before going to bed and I always fall asleep, almost immediately.

I really like Green Tea and friends often bring me it back from China. I bought a packet of Thai Green Tea called Hana but it just tastes like freshly cut grass.

^^You've gotta let the sugar sit on the bag until all the sugar goes dark tea coloured.

^^ The Chinese Thais here drink both hot and cold chinese tea with about everything they eat.

The imported Chinese tea is quite nice and I find I drink more and more of it especially with a meal.

Apparently Chinese herbal tea (normally hot) helps break down the fatty food and aids in digestion.
