    Eating massive frogs

Here in the local supermarket in fucking China, downstairs right, they've got like this live food section which includes fish and eels, terrapins, baby terrapins, rare long neck terrapins (worth 75 quid in a UK pet shop in the 1990's) and frogs so big you need both hands to lift them up so they can be scared and dribble their wees down your arm.

For the past month I have wanted to buy one to 'rescue' it, name it Oliver and have it as a pet, but have had no idea what non-live food I could feed it... Last week I wanted to buy the biggest frog there who was the size of a small chicken - one that is of course plucked, beheaded and befooted like what you see in the supermarkets back in the UK.

Now I have given up on the pet idea but have decided to buy one anyway as soon as one of you reading this can give me a viable and sensible way of cooking it.

I may really try it, it would still be a form of rescue, a release if you like - and I'd get dinner too! Even if I did release one into the wild, where? Roadside hedge? ...They are all probably too traumatized to live for long anyway.

I have a limited kitchen but it includes a hotplate, frying pan, saucepan, good olive oil, any seasoning or anything else I can buy and post a report and even a photo on how the dish went.

If interested please help or I won't be able to do it as it would be a waste of money and life if it went wrong.

As kids we used to insert a plastic straw up their bum holes and blow them up. Pretty cruel at the time, but you do end up with a little cute froggy balloon.

If cooking one goes tits on you, would you consider investing in a cylinder of helium?

Frogs are generally skinned and then chopped up and stir fried. Hard to skin them but easy to fry....
Nice with a vegetable called "suan miao".

Instead of naming him Oliver you can name her Big Bertha.
You then give Big Bertha a big kiss and maybe.......

the best way was almost as described, you stick a straw inside the SKIN and blow it up. The skin detaches from the flesh easily. You just make a small nick for the straw

A delicacy for quite a few Isaan people.
You can buy them on the wet markets in Bkk.
They're alive, you buy them, they put them in a plasic bag, they close the plastic bag, so when you're home they're dead, suffocated.
You can cook them, no need to kill them.
    Very fresh.
    Bon appetit...
