Pomelos

What is it with this fruit and me?
I quite enjoy eating one now and again but oh dear the morning after is worse than a night out on the bass.
"my shit don't stink" is not something that springs to mind on these occasions.

Is it just me? or does it affect everyone in the same way?

What food does it for you?

Guess I'm wierd, but walking by the Durian stands, I love the smell. The taste is fantastic. Hate the texture though, unless it's good and firm. Pomelos are just weak-assed cousins to good grapfruit, not much flavor.

Durians i can take them or leave them but wont have them inthe house because of the stench.

i agree with FF comment on pomelos but where to get grapefruit, cheaply in Bkk.
Plus for me unlike the zillions of oranges available here- no pips with the pomelos

I am a big fan of Durian, but actually prefer the soft, ripe texture. The local durian here is usually picked and sold before if is ripe, which makes it less tasty (and pungent!). In Malaysia, durians are never picked, but allowed to mature on the tree, and only eaten when then drop by themselves. Makes Thai durian pale in comparison.

And - I drink it with beer - no problem.

If you want a real smelly fruit, try petai - small green pea-like fruit (or vegetable?). Tastes heavenly, smells like pure death. And the farts - you don't want to know about the farts......

How is this then....a thread about food and farts not started by our resident sick and twisted Squirell.

Agree on the durian, I find the taste to be neither here nor there and can't understand why people have got such a think against it - it doesn't look pretty when people are eating it though, looks like there munching on their own puke!

Tried durian once and that was enough for me, stank and after eating the bloody stuff, I belched the stinch up for hours.

WS, you can have my share of durian in this lifetime and if there are anymore after that, then you can have that also.
