So you want to learn how to cook Thai food.

Yep the definitive guide on places that teach you how to cook Thai food.

Ok first up is some place in Chang Mai that wants to teach you how to cook Thai food. here's their blurb.

Baan Thai Cooking School: Thai Cooking Course in a Northern Thai Home-Style Setting
Baan Thai offers its customers the opportunity to learn how to cook real Thai food in a traditional Thai setting, with skilled and friendly teachers who can impart the secrets of Thai cooking to you in a fun atmosphere. Baan Thai offers four separate courses, including evening classes; so whether you are an expert or an amateur, Baan Thai has a course that can accommodate your needs.
Baan Thai Cooking School is located in the heart of Chiang Mai, just a few blocks from Thapae Gate (see map.) In Thai, Baan Thai means Thai Home. We view Baan Thai as more than just a school, but rather as an extension of our home, and an opportunity to share Thai cooking and culture with you. [more..]
actually it aint too bad, 800baht for a days course, and you probably get to eat the food, although if you cook like me it maybe worth paying more so you dont have to eat it.

    The Intensive Cooking Courses
Because of many requests from our clients to teach newer menus, BaanThai decided to open the new cooking courses "The Intensive Cooking Courses". There are 5 Courses on each day Monday to Friday and each course are runs separately. The programs are chosen by Thai food lovers from the various menus of Thai foods and are adapted to be easy to learn and to remember. The 6-7 menus per day include around 2 to 4 sub-menus, so actually you will learn for more than 6 menus in one day. The courses are not just for the experienced Thai cooking but also for the amature who has never taken any Thai cooking course.
The courses will follow every step of Thai cooking from making curry paste, making coconut milk, preparing dipping sauce, preparing meat, fish, etc. You will need to do all the steps by yourself. The Intensive Courses are taught by the experienced chefs of BaanThai. They can share many secrets of Thai cooking with you. We will have plenty of time to share our experience with you so there are between 2 to 6 people in one class. There is a certificate for everyone who completes one of these courses. We can provide assistance to you long after you have returned home. Come to learn more and try, you will love cooking Thai food than you can imagine.
    That's their serious course.

    They can be found here.

    Here's one in BKK

There are various types of cultural activities once you are in foreign country, and especially if you are in Thailand. Thai cuisine is one of the country's cultural heritages which has been passing on through generations. It is also renowed internationally to be one of the best cuisines in the world. The famous "Tom Yam Goong" is a good example; it is now an international favorite!
Fascinated foreigners who fell in love after the first bite may determine to get to know, learn and experience one self as much about Thai food, its secrets and the cooking style as possible. Unfortunately, most would not find a qualified and worth paying Thai Cooking School, say in Bangkok itself.

There's also a question like what else can be done during your stay in Bangkok beside sightseeing or shopping. Learning Thai cooking would be an excellent choice for visitors who want to experience something different or who are just curious with no pretension about being able to cook well or in some case, at all. Furthermore there is no better way to learn Thai cooking once you are in Thailand and taking a Thai cooking class, taught by qualified Thai personnel. Thinking of taking a class on the last day, Baipai Thai Cooking School can eventually wrap up your journey to Thailand wonderfully!

This is when Baipai Thai Cooking School has established and prides itself on presenting the authenticity, the art of Thai cooking and Thai culture onto a plate. Only for half a day in the morning, participants will get to learn and enjoy the cooking lessons with genuine and traditional Thai recipes which are properly and accurately transferred together with secrets, tips and tricks.
Price per course at 1,400 Baht/person including recipe book and your own cooked lunch. We will also provide free transfers from & to hotels in centre Bangkok
    That don't sound so bad

hmmmmm, this one is in Hua hin and plays foking lift music at you while you wait ages to download the poxy thing

Our Culinary house is an old wooden house right by the quiet beach in a picturesque old-style wooden summer villas area some one and a half kilometers south of the main intersection. All are welcome not only to lern cooking but for a sip of herbal drinks or coffee or even just a chat by the beach.

We will start the day at aproximately nine in the morning for the first pickup. You will first experience Thais life of shopping the best ingredients for cooking on that day. The local market will be in full seeing only in the morning when most items are freshly arrive and ready for us to buy. When at all the culinary house we will first discuss about receipe while sipping a welcome herbal drink follow by preparing ingredients by yourself. Then the staff will demonstrate the cooking technique which you have to do it later on. Each day you will experience three dishes cooking styles, from appetizer to either soup or salad and finally main dish. After cooking we will sit down and having lunch together right by the sea discussing on what we just cook and eat. Finally at around mid-afternoon we will transfer you back to your hotel.

An independent course is available each day for a multi dishes Thai meals. A combined two days to one week courses are highly recommended and available at a special discount rates. For your convenient, a complimentary transfers are available for a short journey to our beach front house
this foking music is killing me, you foking bastards..

ok it seems to be like 1200baht per day for 2 ppl to learn, but if they play this shite music in the kitchens you may not last the foking day, it's foking awful.

Seems there is fok all to do in Chang Mai apart from learning how to cook Thai food

For utmost benefit and best result, we insist to have, in each class, limited dishes perfect for a meal. This approach will lay a solid ground for your basic understanding in each dish and technique. You will then be more ready to improvise and adapt what you've learned and be able to cook other dishes of the same or similar sort.
It is our belief that, cooking is an art. Loading one with numbers of dishes within a limited period of time will bear no fruits, not to mention delicious palate.

Six different courses are offered for your choices. Each consists of dishes that, together create a menu well balanced as a perfect meal.

The class is designed based on the ground that student has the least skill in cooking, especially Thai or Asian cooking. The dishes are mostly one step direction, not complicate but superb in taste. Comparing to the Thai, the dishes are those common in normal Thai menu for everyday cooking and eating. Easy and quick to prepare
