| Ate lunch at the 100 Years Market (SamChuk), Suphanburi Province ![]() Between the 6 of us (5 adults and one child) we ate: Tod Mun Pla TomYum Pla Chu Chi Pla Koong Krathiam Plaa Tod Rice Little information about the market,………… The old marketplace of Samchuk, Suphan Buri province, recently picked up a Unesco Asia-Pacific Award of Merit 2009, beating 48 other entries from 14 countries. The Samchuk market dates back more than 100 years to when Chinese vendors first traded their wares along the Tha Chin River in central Suphan Buri province. The market was vibrant and famous for its forest produce before being renovated over the last five years to meet the demands of weekend visitors. Today, it makes for a nostalgic day out with its timeworn wooden houses and delicious, authentic food.

| I'd placed this post on my Lancashire Thread earlier on, but thought it may well be appropriate to copy it onto here. Flobo was busy with some nice Aberdeenshire Shin Beef yesterday. ![]() She cut it into nice pieces. ![]() Put it into the pot. Prepared some additional additives. ![]() Onions, barley, mushrooms and some carrots. ![]() All into the pot and placed in the oven to cook very slowly. Cooking time starting off at 200 for 30 minutes. Then dropped down to 150 for about five hours. ![]() Tasted sensational with some pickled onions, pickled red cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower.

| This was nice as well. She made this on Saturday night I think, might have been Friday. The day is irrelevant though. It was 'superb' ![]() Some really nice sirloin steak cut very thin. Flobo left the strips of fat on until she had fried them and made a general mixture in the frying pan of onions, tomato's and mushroom. Then she made a few baguettes up, served them hot with a cob of best Irish butter and stuffed them with the steak (cut into smaller pieces fat removed) ![]() Weren't they absolutely fantastic. I'm glad winters on the horizon. Beats Summer Days and Turkey Roll Salads. ![]() Not that there is a problem with a tasty salad, and these are really tasty. But my preferences are more into such as the baguettes and Shinned Beef Casseroles. My, my, my Delilah. |

| Check this out, I've transferred it from The Lancashire Thread:- The Devonshire Arms Bolton Abbey - Home Page Restaurant, hotel and conference centre. Virtual tour, location map, online booking and prices. www.thedevonshirearms.co.uk/ - Cached - Similar Accommodation Wining & Dining Specials Spa Contact Events Local Area More results from thedevonshirearms.co.uk » These links need looking at, the info is really interesting. We dined at the Devonshire Arms. On the expensive side, but the food was delicious. The surroundings and restaurant. Superb. Flobo, went for the Whitby Fish & Chips. ![]() It was good. ![]() Haddock in a batter of beer. I decided to take the lamb shank in tomato stew with beans and all sorts of fancy things. ![]() I forewent the vegetables and chips. Diet rules. |

| Not the best meal we have had in a pub along our travels:- But if I show the best, I'd be out of order not showing the rest. ![]() Steak and ale pie. Home cooked generous portions, but in total honesty not overly impressed. Flobo managed about half of hers. ![]() Great location though. ![]() The ivy on the pub was attractive. |

| I'd forgotten about this thread recently:- Here we go, a nice meal for myself, Flobo and two of the Grandsons in Castleton. ![]() More expensive than the usual haunts. ![]() But exquisite surroundings, and location. ![]() You're not going to come across a KFC or Mc D's in a village like this. ![]() Gorgeous place, so you can expect to be paying a higher price for your food. Flobo and one of the lads went for the Battered Pollack. ![]() Fish, chips and mushy peas. They both claimed it to be super. I went for the Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding. ![]() It was a good as it gets. The other Grandson decided to have;- Bangers and Mash. ![]() Nicest sausages he had ever eaten he exclaimed. They looked good as well. The lads both finished off with Sticky Toffee pudding covered with a Butterscotch sauce. "Thanks Grandad, that was a great meal," They both echoed. Tuesday last 27th October 2009. Half Term and time is passing quickly. Going dark early as well. ![]() My, my, my Delilah. This is different:- Hope Valley, Derbyshire ![]() maps.google.co.uk Castleton, Derbyshire, England ![]() 27 Mar 2009 ... | On a walkabout | After last nights piss-up (with KW and a few of his mates) I was feeling a little green today but managed a few barbeque chicken drumsticks and a hamburger at the cricket which was being played in Bangkok. The rest of the boys (Bobcock, Ant and Willy) seemed fit as fok and were having a liquid lunch but then again their a lot younger than me. |

| I've heard good things about their food, but I don't think they do delivery. Anyway, I decided to go for it. ![]() Gotta say, I was very impressed. The beef was a bit well done for my liking but I understand that it gotta suit the masses. Yorkies were lovely and the veg was very fresh. Also decent sized portions of horseradish sauce and gravy. Thats pretty good for a delivered Sunday roast. |
