    Super Noodles

Not that I'm unsophisticated or anything, but has anyone come across any packet noodles in LOS that resemble Super-Noodles? Maybe only Brits will know what I'm talking about.....or maybe I'm on my own. The mama noodles are passable, but they lack the stodginess.

This thread is a terrible insight into my sad, sad life.

Thanks Nick. Super Noodles are what I'm after - Certainly not Pot Noodles which are mainly used in the UK for grouting bathroom tiles. Thinking on it, they are not only made by Batchelors, Tesco et al have their own version, so I may be in luck in LOS. Try them if you have a chance. Hot water and zapped in the microwave for 2 minutes and, 'hey presto'.

    Ingredients:

    Noodles-94%
    Wheat Flour
    Vegetable Oil
    Modified Tapioca Starch
    Water
    Salt
    Sugar
    Stabiliser
    Guar Gum
    Garlic
    Onion
    Ginger
    Tumeric
    Spring Onion
    Yeast Extract

'Mmmmmm' I can hear you say.

How many ounces for that price? They if its about 16 to 20 including the water, enough for one person they are a hell of a lot cheaper than that in the USA. At safeway a buck a cup.

Actually, that website is for expats in America who want to recapture the flavour of Old Blighty, so there quite expensive.

Can't remember how much they are on Albions green pastures...

Confirmed sighting: Batchelors Super Noodles To Go
Posted: 20:29 Tue 24-Aug-2004. Price: 79p/ 85g (dry weight). Location: Tesco, Finchley. Sub-flavours: Roast Chicken (tested), Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour, Curry. Nutritional unusualness: 1.8g sodium per serving.
Snackspot reports: In accordance with Snackspot prophecy, this is the "just add hot water" version of Batchelors Super Noodles (and, intriguingly, comes just months after "Stuart Campbell's" comments on what a pain the traditional versions are). Certainly the habitual Pot Noodle user will find little to surprise them here, except perhaps that the tub itself is made of (environmentally friendly?) cardboard rather than Unilever's preference for plastic, though this doesn't seem to (hugely) affect the flavour. You'll also be pleased to hear that the "Roast Chicken" one (with red pepper, sweetcorn, peas and a sachet of soy sauce) remains "Suitable for vegetarians", and that the high sodium content informs any left over "soup" with the delicious tang of warm seawater

Guess these are a mix between super noodles and pot noodles
    , wow!!!

    79p that's 55 baht, getting better.

^Now that's the forum I want to join!

....I've just been there and it's brilliant.

This is from the "Mini-Cheddars Cheesy Beans Flavour" thread:

"Comment: For ages I thought Tuc biscuits were TUC biscuits, as in Trade Union Congress. I don't know how I thought the TUC had got involved in biscuit manufacture, but it did give the biscuits a certain socialist glamour."

NickA you are on my Christmas Card list.....poolie, you've been chucked off to make way for Nick.

Yes, away from British food, but not away from British snacks - Wotsits, Curly Wurlys, Pasties, Ginsters etc...

I'll do research from that website....godddamiitt Danbo, i think we might be near to a breakthrough that could revolutionise the world as we know it....

Confirmed sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Peanut Butter
Posted: 13:13 Thu 16-Feb-2006. Price: 52p. Location: Heathrow Airport. Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
"be" reports: Spotted in Heathrow Airport where they were doing a lot of advertising around the product and giving out lots of free samples. I was starving and in real need of a sugar rush so it was lovely. Otherwise, you may find the full bar a little sickening. It's similar to a normal Kit Kat Chunky with a layer of smooth peanut butter on top of the wafer. It's a pity it tastes like the American Peanut Butter, rather than our SunPat Chunky version! "be" here confirms the portents from earlier in the week, while "Ian" located the (slightly more elusive - and expensive?) companion to Lemon and Lime Jaffa Cakes - McVitie's Jaffa Cakes Blackcurrant going for 70p per packet of 12 ("5.83p per cake") in Sainsbury's, Welwyn Garden City, declaring them: Nicer than the Lemon and Lime ones - I should know, 'cos I bought both at once, though I think he's referring to the Lemon and Lime variety when he adds: Bizarrely the "jelly" bit (the "jaffa orangey bit" in traditional Jaffa Cakes) is still a dark colour, don't know, but I was expecting the colour of the packet for these...
It's a whole new world or wonder for everyone!!!

I miss jellytots! I need to ask my friend to bring a load back with him this time and lots of pick a mix sweeties. It seems there was a bigger selection when I was younger, I remember going to the shop and telling lies about how many sweets I had. The woman used to ask me "Are you sure you have 20p worth?" And I'd flash her my sweetest smile and tell her I was sure!
    Welcome to the jungle!
