The main ingredient from Big C... 20% fat

    Weapons of choice

    Just about ready

    Softening nicely

    Chopping away

    Toms away!!

Brown wet stuff in....and off you go for 3 hours... nice slow cook.

Well, after 2 sets of cooking (total 4 hours) that amount of mince and bits produced 4 of these portions which can be used in a number of dishes.

So it was one for today and 3 into the freezer to rest near some somewhat notorious, but nevertheless delicious, pies and dodgy weight ripoff Tesco salmon

Just needs mash now, getting it set up and I hope to get it done before noon. I think that cooking as easy as this doesn't need to be rushed, part of the enjoyment is taking your time. Anyway, Roma wanna bildid inna day eh Luigi?

    ok... penultimate steps

Steamed pots into a ricer and away we go

result.... a big bowl of finely riced pots

    Add in the melted butter

and out with the wooden spoon

The reward is the smoothest butteriest mash you have ever had.

Time to get the dish out of the fridge and wallop on the mash

    then smooth it out

and then make some simple patterns for decorative effect and also to help get some crisping

Ok.... that's it. you could eat it now as it is all cooked but I prefer it browned so I will pop it in the oven this evening.

Some people may have noticed the absence of peas in the mix. That is because I prefer to have them on the side rather than cooked in the pie. Just a personal preference.

To be perfectly honest I haven't a clue. No scales here, as I am neither a baker nor a dealer.
