    I don't disagree at all.

Surry, I thought that matching to menu was kind of a given.

Thanks everyone sincerely for your contributions.

My wife uses Arhnoon oil which is a bean concoction. When she fries stuff the whole house is filled with this smell I cannot stand.

I remember my mum using lard and me purchasing peanut oil but that was over 30 years ago.

The locally produced oil here is not perfect for cooking chips etc in my opinion but the Thais grew up with it and that is all they know!

There needs to be a change in the Loy Toy kitchen!

Maybe an extractor hood over the stove would help. An outside kitchen perhaps.

Building one now mate at 40 square metres.

One thing I really love is to smell onions and garlic being fried.

With this shit oil that our thai wife's use it is impossible.

A long term problem that sticks in my ribs.

Just trying to convert an ongoing problem mate.

    1. How many of you are married to the "wife"?

    2. How can a highly qualified, educated pie master not know about the different oils and their uses?

    3. The PIES. What oil has she been using in the filling or the pastry?

Should Luigi be worried? Afterall he's the only one we know who's eaten them. Is he going to die?

Correct. David48 is on the money. Rice bran oil has a very high smoke point and tastes good. It's a thin oil.

Olive oil is healthy, but can be a little cloying and thick. And it has a lowish smoke point.

Try rice bran oil, Loy Toy. You won't regret it. It has become popular these days and you should have no real problem finding it.

I rarely eat chips, but when cooked at home just use frozen thick cut oven chips spread out in the tray and give them a light spray with olive oil, think about only time I ever use that olive oil in an aerosol.

    Nope, Tefal Actifry.

    TEFAL Actifry FZ7072 1,400 Watt

    I'd never conventionally fry anything.

This sums up my oil thoughts.

Pleased to have inspired this thread LT
