I will have to wait for the next batch since I finished the last two pieces of chicken this evening for dinner. I plan to smoke up something this weekend and can document then.

In the meantime, here is a site of the guy's product I purchased.

How do you rate them and which one are you using? Are you smoking on the grill or using a smoker. Where did you get wood pellets from?

So far so good on the smoker. I have the 4 shelf/2 door smoker which was a bit expensive, but well made. The seller has a source for pellets and I purchased a large bag of hickery pellets when I bought the smoker.

Smoked a smallish turkey I purchased from Tops and it turned out great. Baked potato, salad and fruit salad. It was a nice holiday season meal. Even my Thai wife liked the smoked turkey.

I read somewhere that the ban was implemented (again?) some time in the mid year? Some commercial places (hotels etc) already had their Xmas stocks in. As always, long range pre-planning by Thais is usually weak.

They have large, fresh roasting chickens at Makro. Some of the best I have ever had. Not bothering with turkey this year.

Yep. Very nice those. I'm going with them as well. Will make same stuffing as turkey, mashed taters with chicken gravey and some veggies.

Managed to get a nice smoked ham from Tops. Will honey/pineapple glaze it. Roast potato, sweet potato souffle, and some veggies.

    Local Turkey

I bought a frozen turkey from Tesco Lotus Extra in Ubon Ratchathani. It was expensive - 1590 baht. After defrosting I went to remove the packaged neck and giblets from the body cavity - there were none there. I then checked the neck cavity where I found two packages - the neck and the giblets. Once I removed them I discovered that the breast meat had been removed and the packages had been inserted to plump out the breast area and make it look like a whole turkey. For my money I received two legs, two wings and the carcass wrapped with skin!! Someone, somewhere is enjoying my breast meat on their turkey club sandwich! A TRUE SCAM!

Had a look at same here at Tesco. Didn't buy because as you say, "a scam" or if not a scam certianly not what I consider a proper Christmas turkey.

    Did you take it back?
    Did you get photos?

I have it on good authority that Tesco Lotus are bound by the money back, no question policies that are applied in the UK. Though you'd never know it in Thailand.

I've taken stuff back to the little store in Chiang Kong and, if persistent and get through to management I've always been refunded.
