We have ditched our traditional BBQ in favour of a Thai style bucket.
Heat's more intense and uses less charcoal.
Pics from our recent camping trip..

Fresh water crustaceans - always better than their sea going cousins.

The wife sucks the meat out of them.
We caught a couple of buckets full and she ate the lot in one evening inbetween the occasional drink.

had one delivered about 9 days ago, the 4 burner model.
no hassles with the delivery and it came a day early.
it comes assembled as much as possible, and even a thickie like me could do the rest in under an hour. nice touch, there are tools included, screwdriver and a 2 sized wrench.(everyone knows how tools seem to fly away here in thailand)
never got to use it yet, had to go 4 weeks offshore in "incredible" india. but i fired it up for an hour, everything worked like it should.

now, the hard part. finding a decent steak.
any suggestions for the khon kaen area?

i bought half a dozen at "bon appetit" in KK, it's the thai-french outlet.
they didn't look to shit hot, but not many steaks do when cryo-vacced and frozen solid. nice bit of fat on the outside and decent marbling in the middle on the rib-eyes.
will try when i get home in about 3 weeks and will report back in with the results if anyone is interested..

anyways, again....it's a beautiful BBQ and i can't wait to pop it's cherry.

edit: i got the box of BBQ accessories, good value as well.

maybe you're not aware, but with a gas BBQ, you set fire to the gas.

i've found the meat cooks a lot faster that way.

just hackin' ya', i get your point....

Makro has some good looking beef. Their fresh meat dept has some nice looking thick cut steaks, but I've not tried them yet. They also have pork ribs (Full size), not those little things the Thai's like.
While you're in there, take a gander at the freezer section. There's all sorts in there for the BBQ, venison, ostrich, lamb, and more beef and pork.
Do not walk beside me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me for I may not follow. Just pretty much leave me the fuck alone!

Yes, they've got a great freezer section. There's great legs of lamb on the bone to be had in there. I got one a few weeks ago for 700THB.
