Realizing that many of my Lao Khao addled regulars are desperately trying to relive a lost youth in the depths of the Orient on a budget the equivalent of a Pint and a handful and bar nuts a day, in a moment of rare sobriety I set my mind to work. What was the first memorable take out snack of my youth?
The thing that I really liked to nosh on for lunch and could smell from approximately 30 meters provided the weird girl in class who always drank her milk to fast didn't wet herself beside me?
Sausage Rolls!
Take some beef and pork mince, add some onion, breadcrumbs, herbs and 2 rashers of bacon.
Run it through the blender till it looks like this.
Roll out the leftover pastry from your last pie.
Lay a thick sausage of your mix and fold the pastry over and paint it with egg yolk.
Gently stretch the other side over to seal.
Into the oven on baking paper. 200 or so for 30 min or so.
Beautiful. Until you find out that the baking paper is more like, just plain paper and they have stuck......fucking thai shit never does what it is supposed to be made to do....
Spend a bit of time picking paper off and cut one open.
Perfect!
Pre Lunch deal two sausage rolls and a shot of LK for 85 baht!
