    La Cockaroacha in Issan

Let it be known that I do hate Issan as much as the next man, but I just got caught in the cockroach/ kakkelak frency

We are in the time of the year where the roach price tops the goong by 50 baht a kilo

Just got me a big one

    Stupid fuckers them back crawlers

    Protein is protein, I guess

And could I add for you gourmet's out there that I personally find this thread somewhat 'greenable'

Malengsap, mai alloy...I am surprised they don't eat cockroaches...The grasshoppers (tokkatan) are very good...

Thing about cockroaches in Thailand...They are slow-moving, lazy fckers...I kinda like them...Easy to catch...Unlike the other furtive thieves in other countries...

Many mistake the giant water bug (Lethocerus indicus/Maeng Dtaa) for cockroaches.

    Thai people don`t eat cockroaches.

    Thai people don`t eat cockroaches.

I tried eating one of those in a rather pissed up state in a BKK taxi.

Paid the taxi driver his fare and a few hundred for a well needed valet.

    What a mess I made.

Twas like eating biro ink, once you get a good chomp on it the thing sort of explodes black gunge into your mouth.

I can still taste it now and this must have been 10 years ago.

I don't like cockroaches either, Ubon was the worst I have ever seen absolutely riddled with them.

Must have been the flying season as the pavements were like runways.

    I much prefer ladybirds.

    ^^ whoops.

I have it on great authority balders that you can either:

    A) Scoop its guts out with your finger.

    or

    B) Bait the whole lot.

That night I can vaguely remember elephants on suk, the bug eating experiment and the.......

    Sorry I cannot go there.

Seen them on the bug carts lately but they seem rather tame by comparison.
