    Easy Red Curry Chicken

    Quite a simple recipe.

    I followed .

I couldn't find Tika Masala at the Top's on Rakhamhaeng, though they most likely have it at Villa just up the street.

I wound up with a small bag of Penang Thai red curry paste (15 baht) & a can of peeled tomatoes.

Aside from that I followed this recipe in the video.

I stopped off at a small restaurant & got a large bag of cooked rice for 7 baht (the lady thought I was nuts until I explained I was going to eat it at my place with my curried chicken).

I chopped the tar out of the tomatoes with my spatula as they were cooking.

I'm from Florida, but lived in the middle East for a long time & kind of grew to like a bit of the tastes of India/Pakistan on occasion. Just wish I had some fresh garlic naan bread to go with it.

Oh well, it's quite good over some Thai Jasmine rice.

Edit: Oh yeah I added in about a cup of water & let it simmer for 30 minutes. Most of the water had steamed off. I just did that to make sure the chicken was thoroughly cooked.

I agree on the photo request.

It's amazing how they can only think in such a single manner. I bought one of the garlic breads in the 7-11 one day and she asked if I wanted it zapped in the microwave. I say no as I was going to put it in the oven at home.

The idea that I didn't want it cooked there completely freaked her out. 'Cannot eat cold, have to cook' she said completely surprised.

A very single-minded people, imo. Cannot think beyond what they see in front of them.

You can buy that exact same Tika Masala paste in Foodland. The rest of the ingredients and the cooking method are all dead easy and the finished product looks pretty good so this will be on the menu sometime in the next week. Pics to follow.

Slow cook it for 8 hours and I'd be more interested.

    What a lot here!

I followed the video instructions & it looked exactly the same as the video.

Should I say chop the shit out of the tomatoes?

I do agree a longer slow cook would be better.

Just now re-heated some leftovers.......Twice as good today as yesterday.

Now here is an intelligent reply. Headworx is ADDING VALUE to the conversation & Nigel is at least being polite.

Neither are begging for pictures or telling me I'm "lame".

Let us know how it goes for you Headworx. If you feel like putting some pictures up, then great! If not, then so be it.

Ok Jaywalker here we go then. But first off, thank you very much for posting the link, besides this recipe that bloke has quite a few other easy one-pot dishes he demonstrates that're exactly my idea of what home cooking is all about.

So, off to Foodland grocery shopping this morning and all the ingredients were gathered. The recipe doesn't call for Coconut cream but fuck it, bought some anyway just in case it might be used (and it was) along with a Naan bread.

Chicken cut, seasoned, and browned off. Then the Masala paste added.

Tomato soup added. I used this one with Basil because it tastes great on its own so why not... Then let this simmer for about 20 mins (the kitchen aroma was something else ) before adding yoghurt just before it came off the stove. A taste test said adding more seasoning +the Coconut cream would lift it even more.

Onto a small bed of wild rice and some Naan bread added. Absolutely delicious and dead easy to make, will definitely be cooking this one again.

I had that curry sauce the other day. How they have the gall to call it a curry I'll never know. You need to add a handful of chillis or it is tasteless.

^I wouldn't call a few hundred Baht in total to make what equates to 3-4 servings of anything decent a small fortune, in fact I'd call it a piss in a bucket at the best of times. The Masala paste was something like 85 Baht, would it be possible to buy the individual ingredients (if you knew them all) and make your own for that?.

once you have bought the ingredients you have them there for the next time and after that, pataks sauces are full of additives which if you look have all the components of MSG.

the tin of tomatoes alone are around 65 baht, fresh ingredients are much cheaper, i could make that whole meal for 100 baht.

So can you post a photo and description of all the ingredients needed to make a Masala paste?. I couldn't give a flying fuck about what anything costs, but would make it from scratch using all fresh ingredients (and ramp the heat level up a few notches) if I knew how!.

    Cumin - check
    Coriander - check
    Black Pepper - check
    Ginger - check
    Cardamon
    Cloves
    Cinnamon
    Bay

First 4 you can get at a tesco, last 4 you might need to go to a villa or foodland.
    But hardly exotic..

Or just go the market.....[Bangkok] Chatuchak Market: R.S.T Spices | Noob Cook Reviews

Aussies do not have a clue about Indian food.

Many years ago there was a English guy, on a business trip there, he was flying Indian food into Australia from England the Aussie media got hold of it and went beserk.
