We had to chop the legs off as it was too big!

Took 10 or so hours to cook.

About 30 odd or so. (My immediate family, probably half pikey! )

With hindsight we should have splayed the front legs too. The shoulders were not quite cooked and had to go in the oven for half an hour.

Normally you'll find goat in Jakarta, instead of lamb. But you can get imported frozen lamb in Carrefour, Lotte Mart and vacuum packed lamb in specialty meat shops or expat supermarkets such as Mastro, Kemchiks or Ranchmarket.

But that particular animal come from Melbourne. I've not seen a whole animal in Jakarta, but I'm sure it can be done.

mmmm...lovely...my Greek mate in Melbourne used to do that every new years' day..they rent those big barbies in Oz for just such a purpose.

Lamb never left the spit..everybody just grabbed the knife and hacked a chunk off ...and all those Greek accompanyments and goodies the ladies produced ...sigh,drool.!!
