    Fruit Shakes

Just did the honours of providing one of my famous shakes for the family members who arrived for Songkran to be fed and soak me in ice-cold water as a 'thank you'.

Peel any ripe fruit (Lamut&Papaya in this case), remove the kernels and dice them to go into the blender. Add a spoonful of honey, some real yoghurt (imported from Villa market in Bkk), water and crushed ice. Ground Koriander seeds or Cinnamon make interesting variations.
A drop of Sangsom is an optional refinement.

As a special treat, I topped up the plastic cup for the toothless old git who always turns up for these occasions with a generous shot of Rice-whisky.

Never saw you drink fruit shakes, Stroll.
But well, confirms the saying that you do not need to be a swimmer to teach people how to swim...

    My recipe:

One large banana or several small ones
One heaping teaspoon of malt powder (Ovaltine White)
One heaping teaspoon of peanut butter
    Four ice cubes
One cup of milk, yogurt or drinking yogurt

    Blend until smooth and cool.

Just bought some SangSom so maybe I'll add a hit of that tomorrow morning.

There are a couple of cryptic messages I can't decypher above.
    Never mind.

Yakult or Paigen are a substitute for yoghurt, just as healthy, but spoil the flavour of Mango and Lamut.
A spoonful of Strawberry Jam does wonders to a banana shake, recommended for 'old hands' who got bored with sipping the same old stuff everyday.

Yeah, I am one of these converted addicts turned healthy lifestyle enthusiasts. Just fail to get round to the exercise bits recommended in women's magazines.

Sorry about the triple posts, something odd about this webboard, entirely unintentional, I swear.

    Ahh, someone's sorted it.
Who said this board is unmoderated?

    Better than Scotch???

I'm surprised Strolly doesn't use beer in his fruit shakes.

Actually a fruit shake (just fruit, ice, no sugar or yogurt) is nice next to a good scotch on ice.

Beer tastes horrible with fruit shakes.
But, for a happy extra, a generous shot of cough syrup blends in well.

Yogurt is very easy to make if you have a good supply of milk. I buy 5 or 6 liters straight off the farm. It makes great yogurt which in turn makes great shakes.

    how do you do it?
Do you simply add some yogurt to the milk and leave it for a night in the fridge?
Do I have to boil the milk?
If it's easy I will try it.

thank you for the very good info.
I will try to make it for my hustband
    he eats lots of yogurt.
I already make cheese for him.
White cheese, cottage cheese. Almost the same as the Philadelphia cheese that he used to buy.
Now he loves my Thai made cheese
