Just had a look at their cookware, pots and pans and looked even at ovenware... but no, definitely not the same. But thanks for the tip...
I will rent you one for 50 satang a day
interested?
^^ Absolutely! Takes me half an hour to dust off the tent, grab some fire wood. borrow a few chickens from the neighbours, load girlfriend and dogs into the truck and head towards the horizon and the sunset... Oh wait, the rainy season is coming!
Seriously, you've got one..? A good size camping one? If so, I would like to rent it for (at least) the next 10 years... it still would be cheaper as buying a new one.
What about a Wok with a lid?
buy a gas cookers complete with oven and grill from the local Chinese mom 'n pop hardware shop for a couple of grand .

I think le Crusset make one which you will find in the posher shops; my mum has one of there's if that is any help. However, I would say that, on balance, you have no chance at all of finding a new one here in Thailand. Best bet is to speak to the auction houses and jumk shop and tell them to keep a look out. You might get lucky but even then I would say a lot of people use them for putting plantsin.
Anyway, a Dutch oven is when you fart under the blanket and then stuff your GF's head into the furnace.
That Dutch Oven looks awesome- the lid that doubles as a fryer? Boosh!- mind blown. Gimme that! And having said this, I've reached the 100 post landmark- yeah me! Now I have access to threads in the TD Lounge that probably don't even interest me! Sound the horns!
Yes, I've seen Le Creuset cookware here in the big shopping malls but most of it is enamel coated, which I don't want. The only non-enameled item was a small skillet.
Didn't look around before I made the first post in this thread, but there's already two old threads on cast iron cookware:
2009: here (Cast iron cookware)
2011: here (Where to buy a cast iron Dutch oven in Pattaya?)
Again, not in a hurry... I'll find one, big, heavy and with a flanged lid that holds extra charcoal on top when cooking in da bush.... I still got my very shallow 26' iron plate like the ones used by the street vendors to make Pad Thai and pancakes/roti.
How about this one then?
Technogas Ovenhttp://bangkok.craigslist.co.th/app/3771512539.html
Bought new 2 years ago. 4 gas elements on top and an electric stove with many settings. Digital clock, timer. Includes the manual, warranty etc. Works great must sell because leaving country.
I think I have the same machine but with a gas oven.
I found it on Craigelist for 15,000b & it's a gas oven look like a good oven AO.
I have a desk top oven.
Strange coincidence, after asking here about the convection oven, we went to the big city of Det Udom to buy one. We park near the bank and what do I see, but a real oven. Send the wife over to ask the price, 8,000, but the woman says she has only sold 2 of them in 2 years, both to farangs and she is happy to get rid of them. 4,000 Baht for a gas, electric 4 burner and oven, whirlpool. Happy man, will have pizza and roasts from now on. Jim
Another alternative no one has mentioned is a combination micro-wave oven. It will microwave, grill or use just the convection oven.....sorted.
you did not buy an oven, you bought a range, or still stove in the usa. 4 burners on top and an oven below. All I have ever known, and we are talking aware of cakes and pies coming out of it for sure by 5 years old.
Udon Thani: Checked in Electronic City this morning and they were selling Mamaru standalone ovens from B1350 for a small one to B4500 for large + rotisserie. Not sure how good they are but looked okay as long as not built-in. They did not have the air cooling around the sides required for the more expensive types that you can build-in.
There were some larger ones in Robinsons and they also sell the build-in type as well as gas hob/electric oven combinations.
Great result there James!Originally Posted by jamescollister

I use my gas oven/stove quite a bit. It was not cheap, I think about B30,000 from HomePro and this was on the cheaper end; probably about eight years ago.At first the wife thought it was stupid but now loves the dishes that I am able to cook.Don't use it daily but at least once every week.

Be careful with those little ovens, not the glass bowl type above^, but the grill-style ovens, mine exploded today, it's the second one I've had in the last 3 years, neither of them have had particularly heavy use, saying that though, they cook so damn slowly and they switch themselves off then on again when the temperature reaches the set level and this is what makes the cooking process so slow!
They also give off nasty little shocks if you don't use a full 3-pin earthed plug and socket - which most basic homes here don't use - so you have to take every precaution not to handle it without some kind of towel or oven glove, additionally, I bought an oven glove from Central, and the first time I used it to pick up the grill I had been grilling my chicken on, the fucking thing melted on to my hand!!
Now, I know my oven looks disgusting, but after the first time I used it I realised that it was impossible to clean it as the inside was a mat-finish so the grease just bonded to it, so I left it
But look at that element! It completely severed itself, my wife saw it happen and she said there was a fireball inside the oven, she might have been exaggerating a little though
EDIT: I can't post links or images until my post count is at least 5, sat the moment it's 1, so I@ll put the pic up as soon as I am allowed...
So, anyhow, the point of my post was double-edged;
I will never buy another oven like this, I understand that Zanussi is probably much better quality, but I want a stand-alone oven with gas hobs, I've seen the B30,000 models in HomePro, I've also seen the B10,000 models in the Singer shop, but I'm pretty picky about the things I buy(recently) so I don't really want to cut corners with a gas appliance, which is what I suspect the Singer oven might be(a cut corner): I had trouble with a Singer aircon unit so I'm rather put off by their products!
Has anybody got a decent gas oven they want to say goodbye to?
