Lets make a chocolate + fresh cream + mandarin cake

Ok been busy painting today and the weekend is running away and I have been promising meself a bit of baking , so here goes with a nice bit of comfort grub .

    Ingredients

    150 gms of butter

    150 gms of caster sugar

200 gms of self raising flour

    3 fresh eggs

2 heaped tea spoons of cocoa

+ small carton of double thick fresh cream

a little orange oil for flavouring the cream + some caster sugar.

Gentlemen start your ovens 170 deg

Cream up the butter + sugar together like so then add the eggs.

Then sieve the flour and cocoa powder in like so and fold in ( gently )

Divide equally into 2 ....... 8 inch flan tins like so , then into the oven for 25 mins

Then with any luck will come out like so

Ive put mine on the cool breeze coming through the window while I whip up the cream to make it nice and thick .

Now I bought myself one of these in the £1 shop , thought it was a right bargain till I used it ,, you will see in a minute . In the meantime I have spread a nice thick layer of cream on the bottom layer, like so .

Here we are a bit arty farty on the top , but its delicious ,, there will be a ( tiny ) bit of that going in my lunchbox for work on Monday .

    Cheers happy baking !

That's a riot! Does the drill have adjustable speeds and how do you get the attachment to stay on? I think you should invest about £20 and get a nice hand mixer if you're going to be doing some baking.

    The composition is weak.
You are dividing the cake vertically with the yellow ochre segments of canned fruit.
You should tone down the amount of white too, as that huge centre dollop, combined with the barren gap (top front ) and asymmetrical blobs , make the top decorations appear lopsided and about to slide off the cake backwards towards the toaster.
While the earthy brown base somehow manages to look washed out when placed upon the dark background and the black strip at the back of the pound shop plate.

Having said that i wouldn't say no to a slice ..

I got 6 speeds Nat ,, cordless to ,faster than any £20 food mixer , you have to get the knack of mixing at about 120 degree angle in the bowl ,, otherwise the oil that runs out the drill causes your cake to go heavy in the middle .

I did get disqualified from joint 9th position in the local village cake of the year 2007, when one of the judges got iron fillings under his dentures

Whipped cream serves as a better alternative.
