The Family Room Want to know the best place to buy baby clothing or toys, are diapers available in Thaliand? What about the best hospitals, the pitfalls of hiring a nanny or helper. How to keep teenagers amused in Bangkok, can I hire a carseat when I travel? Which children's medications are available?

Medical insurance for the good lady and baby... So... Thai medical insurance? Can anybody recommend a good policy that would cover Speccy Brace Face and and the wee one?... Spoke to a Thai friend of a friend who sells insurance a while back and she was showing some policy through AIA which would cost over 20,000 baht for the year... All the paperwork was in Thai and the promise of emailing the policy in English has so far come to nothing... What company do you use for your family and at what cost per year for decent medical coverage?... I don't need a family policy as I've already got some BUPA coverage (which I've been told isn't that good but I'll take my chances with them for now)... Also we are not married so not sure any family package would be allowed... Just want something that she can take out for her and the baby... Thanks in advance...

I had AMEX insurance. Costs more than BUPA but was a lot better for expats. You will have to speak to the them and see what they say about covering a Thai in Thailand and your kid.

Hmmmm... Thanks guys but I was thinking there might be some Thai companies doing decent medical insurance for Thais... Sabang - checked out the Pattaya Expats site and that looked like a standard policy geared towards farang... Looks like I'll have to do a search of Thai Visa... Never posted there before for fear of getting banned but it's sometimes useful for info about serious stuff and shit...
