 | Lets not have any Americans giving us their views on childcare I mean soon half the population over there will be in prison that is a great testament to the softly softly approach, Americans go over board with almost everything, pregnant women are deadly sick and are hardly allowed to move let alone drink one glass of vine or go dancing, if they do the child is removed by the social department at the point of birth and the mother goes to jail, giving a child a slap is almost a capital offence, and standing 10 meters from a smoker in free air is worse than sucking on the exhaust of a diesel bus. But 12 year old gang bangers driving drug paid Cadillacs with UZI machine-guns is ok! Just maybe if some parents have showed they actually cared what they where doing by showing love and diciplin (if necceary with a good thrashing) in equal mesure and not just constantly finding weak excuses for their bad behaviour, then just maybe some of them would have realised that there is such a thing as right and wrong. And just maybe they would have learned that bad behaviour actually not only hurts others but also the ones who love you. When I see American tourists with their kids those kids are amongst the worst little unruly brats you will ever see totally out of control. I am sorry you have that problem with your big lad DD, I am not going to condemn what you have done based on the information given here, Thailand is not Europe and different cultures require different measures, for instance- if you try to reason with young Arab criminals they give you the finger and treat you like shit because they see you as weak, but if you punch them in the face first time they act up they suddenly have respect for you, listen to you and treat you politely. It might sound terrible to some but it is just a fact, if you want to achieve something by dialogue they first have to respect you like one of their own elders their ears are not open before, and the social dynamics in their families is very different to ours, corporal punishment is expected from their fathers uncles and other authoritative figures, the adult men that don't slap them if they act up are just seen as weak wankers. I hope you will find a solution at some future stage in the boys life that can bring him back in the fold.
