    Arriving Saturday?? Accommodation??

    HI there,
We are due to arrive in Pattaya this Saturday by taxi from Bangkok airport. It was said that all accommodation is taken in Pattaya cause people are leaving Bangkok. Can anyone please update me with some information. Many thanks.

The traffic in Jomtien this afternoon I wouldn't be suprised if you couldn't get a room.

Get on Agoda.com and try and get hold of a rep. online for chat or voice. If you don't do it before you arrive you could end up wandering around dazed and confused like I normally do at about 5 in the morning.

Why is everyone in Bangkok running to Pattaya? There are a million places to go.

I guess all the men will be happy leaving the womenfolk in the hotels and them going out to " asses the situation"

    Harry,

you normally end up wandering around dazed and confused at about 5 in the morning even when you have a hotel room.

    I know I do ...

I am due back in Thailand on Saturday morning the 12th November.
I am flying with my girlfriend and our twins to UK on Qatar Airways on the morning of the 13th November. Providing she can get to Bangkok from Buriram on the 12th.
She still has 16 days to get sorted out does anyone think that the floods around Bangkok wil have receeded by then??

No chance, according to my mate at 5pm today. He's a school teacher in BKK and his school is now closed for the next 4 weeks. He can't even live in his house and is moving up north, for the next 4 weeks, to live with family.

Yep, noticably busier today with the invasion of BKK number plated cars.
Makro was the busiest we've ever seen it - not a bottle of water in sight (non at Big C or Central supermarkets either)

Back to the question - have you tried Asia Rooms or Agonda for bookings??
If you have your own car or an international licence why not rent a car and stay a bit out - say Jomtien or Bang Saray?
I bike ride frequently past a small resort called Budsaba (about 5 min north of Sukhumvit on the road just before the Buddha mountain, Nong Noch garden turn off) it's always well maintained does not seem busy BUT it is about 20-25min from down town Pattaya.

At the prices they charge it would be cheaper to stay there and rent a car than folk out for a 4-5 star shit hole on Pattaya beach (which are no doubt charging high season rates this weekend) fwhich full of pissed Russians, group sex loving Indians and ++++ service charges.

Welcome To Budsaba Resort & Spa

    Do they have passports?
My wife mentioned yesterday that the TV reported that flooding is bad around the area (near Don Muang) where the Thai passport office is.

Yes the twins have UK Passports, and my girlfriend has a double entry visa for the UK which she has used once already three months ago.

I am just hoping that there is no drama for them travelling to Bangkok the night before they are due to travel.

^ If money isn't a major problem then can they go to somewhere else like PP and fly into Bkk?

All trains heading north have been canceled, so I doubt they are heading in either... The buses have been leaving today, so they are almost certainly coming back too (though maybe not in such big numbers). In a couple of weeks time, depending on how the flood water moves, you may not be able to easily (if at all) drive into the new airport? I don't think anybody knows for sure... It is even possible that it is closed. Unlikely, but possible.
How do I post these pictures???

Just packed my missus and kid off to stay in a friends flat in Pattaya. Flood water is at the door here (literally), and 1 to 2 meters expected. A nice army truck took the family to the dry bit, and they got a taxi from there....

    Guys,

No idea how it will affect the accommodation situation in Pattaya and surrounds, but next weekend (4th Nov. onwards) there's a 6 day weekend in the middle east because of Eid al Adha.

Most of the flights out of here to Bangkok were fully booked for most of next week, looks like this will compound an already complicated situation as quite a few will arrive with no hotel booking.

Hope you are all safe out there

Mike I am in Qatar and am flying to BKK on the 9th Novemeber via Dubai with Emirates. I booked my flight via our companies travel office.

He also informed me that all three airlines Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways were urging all company travel offices to book early as its approaching the Christmas/ New Year season and a guarantee of seats on any flights would become more difficult.
