An okay place to visit for 2 days and 1 night just south of BKK.
Ko Sichang's home page--guide to a wonderful island
Any longer than that would be a bit tedious. Easy to get to. Van from Victory Monument to Sri Racha - 80b I think. 50b tuktuk to the pier. 40b for the 40 minute ferry. You even get to see some of the Royal Thai Navy's fleet on the way out. You can tell they're not in service as they don't have boatloads of subsistence farmers being towed to their deaths behind them.
This little one enjoyed the ferry though.
Can rent a suitable bungalow for 800b-ish and a scooter for 300b.
Tiz a nice little place to drive around for a day or two. Might even see a dolphin.
There's a tiny beach by the old palace grounds, never mind the waft of garlic and baguettes.
Besides that the only beach that was open to the public was doubling as a rubbish tip.
Absolutely disgusting. Only ventured out when needing a pee.
Saw one bloke who looked dead floating along. Who quite bizarrely was standing on the beach 2 minutes later with a live baby shark.
The poor little bugger certainly had a set of gnashers on him.
And like that it was whisked away up the steps behind the beach, presumably to the Chinese community so they could eat its brains and penis while still alive.
Wouldn't go down again simply because of the rubbish tip beach, which is a pity, as if it was clean it would be a lovely little easy 2 day break from BKK.
But no, thai just can't manage to keep the one public beach on the closest island to BKK free of oil cans and enough plastic bags and bottles of fill a recycling plant.
