    Sa Kaeo

So does anybody know anything about Sakaeo or got any photos? Also Aranyaprathet.

I need to finish this off and there aint a lot on it, last time I went to Sa Kaeo was about 10 years ago so it might have changed a bit since then.

^I lived in Aranya from 88-90, but that's way too long ago to do you any good. At that time, it was a very sleepy little border town and the border was closed. The only foreigners there were some refugee type folks, who locked themselves into their guarded compounds at dusk, and emerged in the morning to convoy out to the camps. I had a house on the road from Aranya to the airport, and a '58 Triump Tiger. Most nights, I was the only foreigner in town after dark. Back then, they had one or two small restaurants (the kind without dirt floors), two little bars (boombox music only), and one video shop (Charlie Chaplin in Lao). I'm sure it is much changed.

    Right.
I was there in 1983 when everybody lived in a hole in the ground.
We would get up every morning half an hour before we went to bed.
I had to put on my camouflage jacket and run full speed, dodging sniper fire, to get yesterday's paper. After reading it, we would boil it up to make porridge.
We may have been poor but, by eck lad, we was happy.
